Where the Army puts me
As we all know the gun market has been crazy these passed two months or so.
I was content with what I had until I started seeing news on "executive orders" and all the guns Washington was going after.

I really wanted another AR until I started seeing the madness on gunbroker and in stores, needless say I was upset. Even the shop I work at we are having a ton of issues trying to get new guns on the shelf, Ammo was a whole other story (Ordered 10k rds each of 762x39 and 223/556) we got the 762 but the wholesaler would not send us the 223/556.

So I hit up Gunbroker this week with a budget. I wanted a BCM, DD, PSA, LWRC, Noveske, S&W mid-length MOE/Vtac, or CMMG. I had to have mil=spec, mid length gas system and a quality 1/7 or 1/8 CHF barrel. To my luck things had calmed down a lot of GB but AR's are still going for more than MSRP. I was bidding on about 20 of the above guns and a few times the auction was coming to an end someone would bid with 5mins left and blow my budget (A few times by only $25)

Most DD v7's were getting sold for $2k-2.5k, PSA's 1500-2000, Noveske ave 2500-3000, LWRC's were in the 3's and BCM were around $2k save for the EAG and Jacks I saw one sell for 6k

I kept at it with my guide lines and got a few deals. 1. NIB PSA mid-length with standard GI furniture and 16" CHF barrel $1300 shipped. 2. CMMG 14.5 CHF barrel, mid length gas, Magpul everything, sling, optic, magpul buis, 600rds, and 5 mags for $1800 shipped.

Though these aren't the best prices in the world I'm pretty happy with what I got. Even if/when Washington comes off this gun kick and things go back to normal I didn't pay 5x the MSRP like I had seen over the last few weeks. I can't wait to shoot them!

Now if I could only get a few lowers for under 200 I'd be really happy.

Dosen't matter. He paid a price he was willing to pay for a product he wanted. So long as he and the sellers are happy with the deal, that's all that matters.

Let's not bust the OP's chops. But I'd be surprised if he didn't already own a semi-auto rifle platform (or 2, or 3, or 4, etc....).

Buddy of mine who is a prosecutor told me that he just ordered another Garand from the CMP. He already has two. He bought a Colt AR just before the Newton tragedy. I'm sure he has other semi-autos. It's just him and his wife in the house. He's just plain paranoid at this point and not thinking logically. To justify this illogical buying spree I will hear people say, "you can never have too much". But that is non-sense. I can understand having a primary shoulder arm, a back up, and a reliable sidearm or two. But to suggest that one "needs" 15 AR's (as some guys I know) and 1,000,000 rounds of ammo is just ridiculous. I'm having a hard time getting a few rounds for the rifle I have because of the madness. So I guess that if the OP really wanted an AR, and really believes that a ban is inevitable, $1,800 for an AR isn't so bad. On the other hand, if this is his 6th AR, well then, he should re-think his priorities.

PSA- Would normally run around $700-1600 for a complete mil spec rifle(depending on barrel, gas system, LPK, etc) A friend bought a PSA kit a while back for like 600 and a spikes lower for 200 and I put it together for him. The one I just bought is about middle of the road with hard case and mags.

CMMG- Retail on the last one I bought (CHF 16" GP barrel, mid length gas system magpul everything) $1295. I just bought the same gun just with a
14.5" barrel with the ammo and all the other stuff along with it for $505 more.

When I posted how crazy it was for Ar's to sell for 5x what retail is, everyone wanted to talk about supply and demand and blah blah blah. Now that I bought two everyone wants to complain about how I over paid. Funny how that works.

For what you got with them, those might not be as terrible of deals as some people are making it seem. Depending on whether they are used or not (and if so to what extent), it could be even decent price.

Heck....600 rounds of ammo can be going for close to $600 these days
