642-2 in Jan08 from a local gun shop for 373.99 plus tax
638 nib orderd from s&w dealer for 449.00 + tax.
i am new to the game, but i am starting realize how blue of a state i live in when i compare your prices to mine in springfield, il. i am also amazed at the cost to transfer to a local ffl. 75 - 100 dollas to transfer a new gun is crazy!!!! am i geing taken advantage of as a new buyer or is this standard pricing for blue states??? enjoy!!!

In states like yours dealers may need to charge near list in order to stay in business.
But I do have dealers in my area that want $75 for a transfer, they are the ones who just don't want to do them.
I would suggest going on Gunbroker and looking for transfer dealers near you, you may be able to find someone to do it for a lot less.
My normal B&M store charges $25 for transfers but I found a guy on GB who works out of his home, 5 minutes from my house and will meet me in the evenings to do transfers for $15.
PS: Ohio is the next "up and coming" Blue State .. :banghead: .. luckily we are gun friendly for the most part..

Yesterday I went shopping for a small concealed carry and came away with an S&W 638 for $379.00.
Great handgun and I can carry quite un-noticeable in my jeans pocket.

thanks Xavier, it was pawned by an older gentleman in the Republic of Arnold. I got it from AJC Sport Shop out of the big town of Clute, TX. They had it at a gun show in Pasadena, TX.
The only thing I don't like about it is, he ingraved his name on the other side. I know it is not worth much, so I'm going to have it refinished for my wife as a carry gun.

M&P 340 from Bud's for $655 delivered on January 29th
I paid a little over $600 for a new S&W 340 M&P. Picked up a used S&W 642 for $365 the other day. New ones at the same shop are $430. A few years ago, I bought a couple new 642' for a little less than I paid for the used one. Prices seem to be going up.

All the above guns are Snubbies. Some may say the prices are high, but i had to have them all ,and didnt want anybody else to get 'em......all 3 are beautiful revolvers.

Id like to know where some of you shop...I live within driving distance of Bud's and the bout 2 months back the cheapest S&W snub (642) on display was $530 out the door (yes i know bodyguards/exposed hammer are cheaper on the website). The clerk at buds even recommended buying a Taurus because S&W is "just paying for a name". My local store is within $20 of that.
