The return of a popular match, with some upgrades:

Crouching Tiger, Hidden Tiger

http://www.mytargets.com/targettigers.pdf

Good old, American, two handed, Chow Yun Fat (and John Wayne) - style shooting this month.

Using your favorite pistol (or pistols), shoot five shots from each hand at the two tigers target. I recommend shooting with only one pistol at a time for safety reasons, but if you feel you can do it, and you have two pistols, go ahead and alternate shooting like your favorite action hero.

One-handed, unaided at 10 yards.

8 points for each hit on either tiger and 10 points for a hit that breaks the red dot on either tiger for a total possible of 100 points.

1. Stock Class -- Any unscoped, stock pistol with barrel 6" or less
2. Improved Class -- Pistol with any improvements to trigger, barrel, etc. or barrel longer than 6"
3. Scoped Class - scoped pistol
4. Modified El Rojo Class (El Rojo once asked if he could include his 10 yard M1 Garand shots in a pistol target competition) -- One-handed shots from each hand with any RIFLE (or any two rifles). Yes, a .22 is allowed. PLEASE SHOOT SAFELY!
5. "Fill Your Hands You S.O.B." Class -- Any rifle in one hand and any pistol in another.

Please post your THR name, class, score, weapon type and caliber here by July 31st.

I will allow three entries in different classes this month.

Safe shooting and good luck!

This should be a fun one, the last one looked good to, but I haven't been checking this forum while I was failing at a new career (but that's another story). I'm back now.

I might still shoot last months match just for the fun of it even though the points won't "count". I'm not a real competitive shooter, unless I happen to be winning ;)

This one yielded alot of surprises! Especially with the .22, where my left hand 0wnz0red my right. (All luck though)

Anyways, I shot the Scoped Class with my Ruger Mark II (.22 lr) with dot scope:
Right Hand: 16 points (a measly 2 hits on the kitty)
Left Hand: 40 points (all five on the kitty. Not bad considering I have never shot the Mark II one handed, even more odd considering it has the Right Hand only ergo grips!)
Total: 56 points

And Stock Class with my Beretta 96fs (.40S&W):
Right Hand: 32 points
Left Hand: 8 points (really disappointed on this one, I should do much better with this gun)
Total : 40 points

So my total entry is 96 points, no red spot hits.

Another person who did better than they should with their left hand in a round.

Scoped class: Browing Buckmark 5.5 Target w/Tasco ProPoint
Right hand 5 hits
Left hand 2 hits, one in the red.
Score: 58

Stock Class: Desert Eagle .44 Mag 6" barrel
Right hand 3 hits
Left hand 5 hits plus 1 in the red
Score: 66

After that I shot my stock CZ 75B and Glock 24P w/ a red dot but they didn't score as well. After shooting the DEagle I think my arms were getting a bit woozy ;)

Name: Database
Score: 32
Class: Stock
Weapon: Glock 21 (45ACP)

All my hits were from the weak hand! Go figure.

Improved Class: Les Baer PII .45 ACP
Right Hand: 5 hits 3 in the red.
Left Hand: 5 hits 2 in the red.
Points: 92

Beetle Bailey
Stock Class
0 for 5 righthanded
2 for 5 lefthanded
CZ75 Compact in 9x19 Luger

Beetle Bailey
Fill your hands you s.o.b. Class
1 for 5 righthanded with rifle
1 for 5 lefthanded with pistol
CZ452 Lux in .22lr for rifle
CZ75 Compact with .22lr Kadet Kit for pistol

Hmmm. . . not too good, especially since my mother is from Hong Kong  . Well, to all you fence sitters who are thinking of trying this, don't let my poor showing discourage you, I'm just a beginner.

BTW, it's funny that while I am righthanded, I did better lefthanded than righthanded, although it was only five shots and not a large enough sample. Also, shooting five shoots one-handed with a bolt-action rifle throws out all illusions of practicality since I had to use two hands to work the bolt between shoots  .

Oh, and I actually did this match on the 4th of July but today is the first day all month that my crummy PC has decided to allow me to post and I don't know when this tempermental beast will allow me to do so again. . . :(

Not allowed to shoot at 10yds at our club's range, so I tried it at 25m:

Name: T.Stahl
Class: Stock Class - Glock 17L 9x19
Right Hand: 3 hits = 24 pts
Left Hand: 1 hit = 8 pts
no hits in the red
Score: 32 pts

M67, another entry in the "dang furriner class"

Stock class, Ruger Mk II
5/1 strong hand
4/0 weak hand
74 points

Modified El Rojo class, Cz 452
4/0 strong hand
4/0 weak hand
64 points

The strong hand pistol group was small enough to have been five for five in the red dot, if I had been able to hit the darn thing. As any experienced shooter, I have plenty of excuses, though. :) I printed the targets on a black-and-white printer, so I couldn't see the "red" dot from 10 meters - that only made the jungle aspect more realistic of course, teaching me where to aim if I ever have to shoot at a tiger... Also, the shooting might have been better if I hadn't tried it at the end of a four hour range session - with no coffee break! Mmmm, coffee.

I guess I have to work on this one handed rifle shooting thing. I didn't do too badly, especially weak handed, but I know I can do better with a little training. Probably not much practical value other than the "Hey y'all, watch this"-factor, but that's a good enough reason, right?

As far as realism goes, I'm afraid I would look ridiculous roaming the jungles of the Sub Continent with a .577 double (particularly one handed), wearing a cork hat and knee-socks, pale bony knees poking out of a pair of khaki shorts - I would look like an Englishman on a tiger hunt, but I'm repeating myself. :D

Peetmoss
Improved scope class
Neos 22lr with trigger improvements and EoTech Holosight
Strong hand 3/0
Weak hand 3/0

Total score 48

ACP230 and I got out to the range to try this today. I'll post both of our scores.

Name: Little Loudmouth
Class: Stock
Gun: Smith and Wesson M18 .22
Score: 24.

Little Loudmouth
Modified El Rojo
FIE Bronco .22
Score: 16.

Okay, off of my horrible scores and on to ACP230's.

Name: ACP230
Class: Stock
Gun: Smith and Wesson M18 .22
Score: 40.

ACP230
Improved
Smith & Wesson M57 .41 Mag with trigger work
Score: 72.

ACP230
Modified El Rojo
FIE Bronco .22
Score: 32.

Well, there's our scores.

Finally did one and boy, I should have checked my zero better.

72, no hits in the circle, did better with the .40 in my left hand than with the 9mm in my right. Both groups 1-1/2 inch to the right of the circle, and one miss with the 9mm.

grr....

Did a very quick re-shoot for grins & giggles with a .22 pistol on only one target, had three in the circle easy and the other two shots going through a .40 bullet hole.

July Virtual Match...

Well.......shot the tigers....nothing to brag about.
Now I remember why I usually shoot rifles!

Modified Class - S&W Model 41
3/0 = 24 Strong hand
2/0 = 16 Weak Hand
Total 40

Bill L. Welcome to THR! Glad you tried the virtual match and hope you like it here.

Beetle forgot to add that he shot his targets at 50 feet.

Yeah, I guess I did forget to mention that (50 feet is the closest at my favorite shooting range). But in all honesty I doubt my scores would have been any better, since IIRC none of the "misses" were even close. Anyways, I will be back next month and hopefully do better ;) .

This was a COOL Match!!:D
May the "Duke" ride Forever!!!!!!!!

Mark whiz
Stock Class
Springfield Armory 1911-A1 Mil-Spec .45ACP
Right: 5 hits / 3 Red score 46
Left: 5 hits / 2 Red score 44
Total Score: 90

This New Mil-Spec has really turned out to be a sweet shooter with the right ammo loads. :D

Beetle Bailey is most impressive by trying out the "Fill your hand you S.O.B." class and shooting a 20.

Ankeny wins the Improved class and also the overall high score with 92.

M67 wins the modified El Rojo class with a 64.

Black Snowman wins scoped class with a 58.

Mark whiz wins the Stock class with a 90.

Nice shooting THR members! I think we're all pretty safe if we get attacked by tiny little tigers and have a weapon in each hand.
