A few typing errors but you know what he is saying !

I have a 995 and have no problem with the Hi-Point. I think it is very much worth the price they sell for.

That said, I would like to get ahold of a Kel-Tec to handle and shoot as I believe I might like it better for the same reasons mentioned here. I just haven't had the opertunity yet.

I would not trust hi-point. They are too new(?) and too much like a Jenning's for me (to trust) them. That is just my opinion.

I fixed it, I think.

I voted for the KT but really wanted to vote for both. They are both excellent. The KT has more features, as noted above, but the HP has a better price point. Both are very accurate and reliable. If I had to have only one I would get the KT but ended up with both and I don't regret it. 9mm carbines are so much fun to shoot. Bring both to the range, your shooting buddies will be happy to plink away with whichever you're not shooting at the moment.

Depends on what YOU want it for. They are both good guns.

KelTec has better magazine options and its foldable - which is great if your wanting a trunk gun or it needs to be concealable. It does not have any way from the factory to attach any optics.

HiPoint use low capacity magazines and doesnt fold but it comes with everything necessary to mount a red dot or scope. It wouldnt be great to throw behind the seat of your truck, the KT would work better - but it would be fine in your trunk and it would be a great plinker with a red dot scope on it.

The HP carbines are good guns, almost anyone that has owned one (of which I do) will praise them. They are reliable, accurate and the warranty service is top-notch.

I dont (nor probably will I) own a HP handgun. Not because I think they are junk or unreliable but because their size and weight takes them out of the running for my uses.

If they made a Sub 2000 that took High Power mags, I would buy it in a second. As it is, they don't have one that matches the mags for any of my current guns, and my interest is theoretical. I wanted a 9mm carbine for a long time, but never found one that was quite right, the MP5 clones were close but way too expensive for what they were. When I finally did get a 9mm carbine, it's was an AR upper that takes Sten mags. That said, I'd still be interested in a Sub 2000 if it took XD or High Power mags.

I have the High point and both I and all of my family love to shoot it. It is accurate quick handling and goes bang every time. I do want one of the keltecs as I have a load of hi cap berretta mags that I would love to be able to use. If mag cap isn't an issue then get the HP, if it is then get the Keltec. Both are fugly as sin, and both shoot.

I would recommend a Ruger Pc-9, but selected Kel-Tec, since that was one of your options. Hi-Points are accurate weapons, but the QC is lacking. Many of them are great, reliable weapons- but I know that mine is a POS. Usually at least 1 or more failures to function per magazine, regardless of ammo, and regardless of the mag used. I actually like the shape and feel of the Hi-Point. The other problem is the screws that hold the weapon together have a tendency to come loose.

I don't have a Kel-tec and have never shot one. I do think it's novel that they fold up as they do, and I like the fact that if you buy a Glock compatible model, you can easily have 17 or 33 round (high quality) mags for little expense.

Hi-Point has some of the best service I have ever heard of, have you tried calling them?

I love my Sub2000, dead on accurate at 100yds. I did some mods and works even better.

I pondered the choice as well (in .40 cal) and ended up getting a Storm. The KelTec was just too short for me to sight it without doing all kinds of neck contortions. If it had taken XD mags I might have learned to live with that though.

The HP was just too ugly and had no hicaps. Would I be displeased if someone gave me one? No, it is accurate and reliable - unlike their pistols.

I think both are good values for the money, considering the HP is 1/2 the price.

I love my HP, and its been utterly reliable for over 5000 rounds, with any kind of ammo I've ever shot (usuallly the cheapest stuff I can find!).

I'd like a KT, but don't really "need" one as much as I "need" other things for my collection, but may own one someday.

I vote for, and purchased the Hi-Point based on "point of rationality"...getting the most value for the least money. Everyone I have spoken with who has owned both says they are co-equals...quite simply no difference in performance. Looks, well, that it personal choice. There is something oddly attractive about the Hi-Point to me...kinda like my first girlfirend's freckles.

I statered this thread a while back, and requested why people did and did not buy the Hi-Point. It turned into a good, facts-based thread:

Be sure look at the picture in post #63 of the thread. The Hi-Point can be made pretty darned attractive too. For me, it's all about the money. The Hi-Point simply costs less. That in no way, shapre or form means that the Kel-Tec is not excellent. Buy whichever you choose and you'll be happy.

My hi-point, as shown cost less than the kel-tec, whose only cool feature was the foldability. did not like the location of the charge handle or the flimsy optics [extra cost] attachment.I have five mags, and the Ati laser. Laser995.jpg

Personally, I'm thinking about the Kel-tec for a nice "under the seat"-style truck gun for my Jeep. Dang, it's hard to fit things in there otherwise!

KelTec does make a scope-mount replacement fore-end for the sub-rifle-2000; it has a spring-loaded mount so you can push the scope out of the way and still fold it up. I personally have been interested in a 9mm carbine for a while and liked the KT. But I am probably going to get a Ruger PC9 just because they are Ruger indestructible, and it seems nobody ever has any KTsub2K's in stock... Of course you can get three hi-points for the cost of a PC9...but the KT 9mm with Glock mags you can use 33 rounders... decisions, decisions...

Accurate, reliable, and when I travel it folds up and slides right in my brief case between the computer and paper files..... I vote Keltec
