For CCW, you can keep a fairly large pistol in a sporran (my piping instructor carried a Colt Mustang .380 that way). Shoulder holsters are also an option - IMO, a classy older .32 (Colt 1903, PPK, etc) is just right to wear with a kilt and tuxedo vest & coat.
