Kimber Goes 10mm Auto

Oh great :banghead: LIMITED production which means there's another pistol I want that I won't have a chance in getting :(
 
Let's see, I already have a .45ACP CST (Pre II) and a Caspian single stack 10mm/.40S&W. I think I will pass, but I am glad to see they are making them.
 
GO TEN! Nice to see another gun company take a second look at the 10mm.

Of course, the Perfect gun for the FBI HRT and other teams has been
right in front of them all along.

A hi quality 1911 in 10MM. More power than a .45 acp. Shoots flatter
and offers better tactical penetration, should some real loads be utilized.

Would be even nicer to see the Kimber polymer framed pistols offered
in 10MM. More affordable for us folks who can't afford $1200, but $600
is ok.

They already have a good name for them. BP TEN:)
 
Does anyone else get tired of gunmakers only making other calibers in stainless finish. Kimber, Springfield and some others do this. Sorry to change thread point. I think its cool and they should make other calibers but I don't want a stainless finish.

Hope they do it the last rep I talked to told me years ago the 9mm, super and 40's were coming to the store and they never made them.
 
much as I wanna support any new 10 coming on the market, I have had too much trouble with the "II" series (both ends of the spectrum of full auto and failure to fire at all), the pre-"II"s were/are great pistols though

And given their current design specs, a Bureau HRT 1911 in 10mm Auto would look almost identical to this:

LAPD SWAT likes their .45 Kimbers. Maybe the Bureau will take a cue from Kimber's new 10mm. Well, one can always hope. :scrutiny:

Why can't CZ produce the CZ97B in a 10mm version. The CZ feel without dealing with the EAA to get it in a 10mm... ahhh, how sweeeeetttt it would be!

However, just seeing yet another NEW 10mm from a different maunfacturer is very heartening. Who ever said the 10mm was dead. Long live King10mm!

$1200 makes me wince, $600 causes me to think hard on the decision(it can done, but it's not an automatic "okay"). Hey, I was raised Penna. Dutch style, so the thought is "money comes too slow and goes too fast".
 
Read closer guys, the MSRP is $1,026, which means the street price will be more like $800 or so.

Dont worry about Limited Edition as it means that it will probably be sold next year as a production gun if the demand for this pistol is high enough.
 
10mm mags.


The Kimber 10mm should be compatible with any 10mm mag that would work in other single-stack 10mm 1911s, e.g., Colt DE, DW Razorback, etc.

This would certainly include use of the 8-rd Colt factory DE mags, Wilson's 8-rd 10mm mag, Metalform's 8-rd mags (plus their as-yet-unseen 10-rd 10mm mag), CMC's 9-rd 10mm mags, and the new 9-&-10-rd CobraTripp 10mm/.40cal mags from the guy at Tripp Research.

In short, there should be plenty of mag options for the new 10mm Kimber.

Many people have urged CZ to make a 10mm. Mostly those
seeking a Compact version of the 97B in TEN.

CZ-USA makes up only 15% of the world-wide CZUB market.
The powers that be at CZ don't want to make any gun that
will only sell to a few thousand people.

Feasibility:
All that is needed to make a TEN out of the current 97B is a Bar-Sto
or other custom barrel. Then add Witness mags. They and .45 mags
are both made by Mec-Gar.

Durability:
The 97B was designed around S&B Hardball ammo. I really doubt
if the existing 97B design's muzzle bushing would stand up to the
pounding of hot 10mms. Maybe- i'm wrong about this.

I only run Hardball in my 97B, but find myself shooting 10mm more
and more. The Witness doesn't have/need a threaded barrel bushing
and i think is a superior platform for the 10mm.

First the Razorback, then the Kimber 10mm, and now this... so much for the dead cartridge! :D
 
I doubt they will be THAT much, since the MSRP of the basic version of the same gun is only $449.

Yeah, until then the Bureau will just have to make do with the thoroughly crappy Springfield Professional firing 230 gr Golden Sabres.:rolleyes: Never mind that the Springer beat all comers in T&E and was designated to be .45ACP--they'll go with an untested 10mm someday.

I have nothing against the 10mm, but it doesn't make anyone more dead than a .45ACP, on headshots especially when we are talking about pistols with 8+1 capacity that are New York reloads to a subgun. All 10mm would do for the FBI HRT is raise the cost of their practice ammo.
 
Now I've got visions of a 10mm Ultra CDP floating around in my head :D


As for magazines, I would think it will be able to use any 1911 .40s&w mags
