I can vouch for PSA lowers and kits. They’re fine for range use and I’d be ok using them for varmints out to 200 yards. Maybe 300 if I had a range to try that far.

The posts in this thread got me thinking which ended up in me buying 3 AR lowers. A Spike 5.56 lower, a Spike 9mm lower and an Anderson 5.56 lower. This should be more AR receivers than I will ever need or want. I don't usually bow to pressure but the available lowers disappearing from the Sportsmans Warehouse site while I was deciding which ones to buy pushed me into buying these three lowers as well as several guns I have wanted.

I don't stockpile ammo but I do stockpile components. While everyone was sweating the ammo shortage I was enjoying having my favorite shooting spots to myself. I have about 11K primers left after not buying any for the past few years. I hope more primers will return to the shelves soon. I have not added any new cartridges to my current gun selection so I won't need to buy components or additional quick change heads for my progressive press.

I have been putting together a magazine order. I am going back and forth on buying a few drum magazines. I had a 7.62 x 39 drum magazine about 25 years ago which I sold and never really missed. I am tempted to buy a Glock drum magazine for my current Ruger PC carbine, new Ruger PC Charger and new 9mm AR lower... but I think I am talking myself out of doing so and just buying stick magazines.

Washington here, during our mag ban grace buy period, I bought lots of Magpul Glock mags, I recall; (20) 17rd 9mm, (20) 28rd 9mm, (25) 30rd 5.56. Check with Palmetto State Armory, they always run specials on bulk mags.

also, as a person who didn’t care for AR’s before the Killary Clinton election, I bought 10 Anderson lowers. Very glade I did, they are lije cheap gold in your safe. Once you go AR building, you don’t go back. Very addictive, recommend getting a few more.

GOOD LUCK!!!

I followed Measure 114 with interest. Even more egregious, draconian restrictions than Washington's Initiatives 594,1639 and Senate bill 5078. What's more, there's no way the local police agencies and Oregon State Police will even begin to accomplish what the measure tasks them with, setting up training, a permitting process and databases, prior to the measure's effective date. A permit required from one's local police, just to apply for permission from OSP, to apply to purchase a firearm? Law enforcement has to approve trainers for the mandated safety training -- with no requirements even delineated for qualifications for those who would instruct, how they become "approved" and what exactly the training will consist of?

At least citizens here are still allowed standard capacity magazines (more than 10 rounds) in their carry handguns (of course, presuming they were procured prior to July 1, 2022). Oh, but wait: in Oregon, you'll still be able to take your 10-round-plus mags out for "recreational purposes" and hunting. Just not in your carry pistol when you're stepping over human feces, used hypodermic needles, trash and junkies while trying to avoid the aggressive panhandlers in downtown Portland.

Post#19 is just one of the winners for the thread IMHO:thumbup:

I've re-thought my CA position recently from, don't do ANY business with CA to... find AND do business with CA 2A businesses. Just think, someone supplying parts and/ or ammo, stuff, from ''behind enemy lines.''

As to the OP buying whatever before whichever new law and, asking about lower receivers, YES the PlaneJane Andersons are GTG several friends here (2000mi + away) have bought em & build with zero problems. As well as PMags, shucks MPull everything they sell works & runs gr8t IMHO, and from what I have seen. Check gundeals.com for cheapest currenty prices perhaps?

Oh yes another member posted, buy more ammo ! ! !
ALWAYS great to toss a $20 bill or so towards the groups that are fighting all this, FPC, GOA, SAF:thumbup::thumbup::thumbup:

Good luck!!

You have already made up your mind to stay put... all you can do is stock up. Great advice on what to stock up on has been given.

Property in a different state.
Otherwise I agree with D.B.Cooper.

Best answer....every the time the topic is brought up.

Not so easy to move, especially away from the family, the friends, the career, and the surroundings, those reasons to stay put are understood...but something about being told to conform, go to jail, or leave if you don't like it just rubs people the wrong way, as intended.
I retired last year and GotTFO of ILL-inois ASAP and moved to a warmer free state.
Illinois is not as bad as Oregon soon will be, and Illinois' most strict anti-2nd dictates are primarily in the Chicago area, but the entire state is at risk. For that and numerous other reasons moving out couldn't happen soon enough. This year's property tax difference will pay for a nice new pretty M1A Loaded, plus a lot of other goodies. F' Illinois.

If you happen to have a last minute change of heart about ARs, Palmetto State Armory is running a sale on Magpul PMAGs. Best price I've ever seen at $7.50 a pop when you use the discount code "PMAG", plus free shipping at 10+. Great deal for great magazines. You can also use them in some bolt actions, I believe. The Ruger American Ranch comes to mind.

You have a good plan in place to ride out the storm. Everyone has different tastes in firearms, but the emphasis now would be on the ones most difficult to obtain in the near future. Whenever something is denied, it becomes more valuable. We will all work for a better future.
I'm just a little curious....
Ride out what storm?
That makes it sound like you think this law will expire at some point.

I do think that extreme measures such as these are often walked back over time or modified/set aside upon review. Civil unrest could also change public sentiment when it becomes apparent that authorities cannot or will not protect private interests or safety. The more draconian the law, the more political capital must be used to maintain it, until that eventually runs out.

P.S. I asked everyone what THEY would do and I appreciate the answers! I am just explaining my thinking and not in the least saying what someone else would do is in any way wrong! Understanding what others think and why helps refine my thinking!

I certainly wouldn’t buy something that you could just as easily purchase after the ban goes in effect.

also keep in mind that braces might also be on the banned list too. (Federally)

you underestimate the people here in Portland and Seattle. They literally was burning down police precincts about 2 years ago. Crimes was un punished, jails released prisoners….. 2 years later…. the citizens voted to make themselves more defenseless. I can express how backwards thinking PNW is.

Only thing I can say with any certainty is that I would be buying a few semiauto carbine of some sort. I like the sub2k in that it’s foldable and whatnot but I know that better options exist. A Ruger charger, or pc charger would be high on the list. Also a EAA witness silver team 10mm or a RIA rock ultra 10mm would be in the works.

Part of me thinks the answer of leaving places when they go south on 2A rights is not a good strategy in the long haul. That seems to trend towards a future where rights are eliminated nationwide one state at a time.
Especially considering how those same types that vote to strip other people of rights are just as mobile. People bailing from CA due to cost of living/taxes but aren't gun friendly. Think they don't take their anti-gun sentiment with them?

Now, if the situation became untenable...like you wake up one day to find out you're about to become a criminal over something you've owned for years. THAT might be the right time to hit the road.

To the OP, I don't own any AR's either. Lack of an area nearby to enjoy one along with my preference for old crap. I may buy a couple out of spite, but that's all it would ever be. Don't see a reason to spend money on things you don't want just in case someone tells you you can't have it later. Put that money toward supporting the folks who fight the stupidity.

That is awful. I would probably just stock up on standard capacity AR mags and Glock 9 mm and 40 mags. Treat it as a stock investment.

For what it's worth, I don't think those laws will hold up as constitutional, as the extra tax is clearly infringing on your right to bear arms.

it will be overturned it is Unconstitutional.
Lots of unconstitutional laws on the books. Some get overturned (eventually) some don't. NFA. GCA. Bump stock ban. Gun Free School Zones Act. Alien & Sedition Acts. Incarceration of Japanese-Americans during WWII.

Don't bank on the Supreme Court coming to the rescue, and if it does, don't bank on it happening in your lifetime.

I find it more likely that these bad laws hang on for much longer than they should.

20 years ago it seemed like the only State with a permit to purchase requirement was Il & their idiotic FOID.
Now - there are 14 States that impose that infringement on their citizens.

I think things like laws being unconstitutional have little - if any - effect on what politicians do.
