I wasn't aware of the "Gold" priming pin and new carrier cover.
Email sent to Calvin inquiring about the new pin and cover.
Thank you, Very curious to see what his reply is.

I got the following reply
Good afternoon John,I replied to her email requesting explanation for the new carrier cover/priming pin and benefit(s) they provide.
You will only need the gold primer pin if you purchase a new carrier cover.

Lee Precision
My hunch is that Lee Precision redesigned the carrier cover to perhaps be easier to disassemble/reassemble and incorporated a different priming pin to work with the new cover.

Got an email reply from Calvin and Lee Precision redesigned the carrier cover priming pin sleeve to be "self cleaning" and work with original priming pin - https://www.thehighroad.org/index.p...-oal-consistency.911743/page-17#post-12550727I replied to her email requesting explanation for the new carrier cover/priming pin and benefit(s) they provide.
I just ordered the new carrier cover and primer pin with a few other spare parts so I can compare the difference.
Thanks for posting pictures and measurements.new revised carrier cover ... difference I can find is ... small diameter on the top part of the hole and the large part on the bottom of the hole. I measured the top part of the hole to be approximately .178" and approximately .205" on the bottom part of the hole
Smaller radius of spring end will prevent snagging with the four hold down tabs yet still has enough opening to slide up the slot of the primer slider connection. (FYI, properly installed primer slider spring should have open side facing away from the press)ordered and received the new gold primer pin spring. They have redesigned the end that attaches to the primer slide
Interesting.....and here I thought the carrier cover was the plastic bottom.... So now I have the revised primer pin, the old primer pin, and the original carrier cover. Do I need the new carrier cover?.....haven't had any problems yet....
So far this is what I'm doing:
Typical for pistol: After depriming and tumbling, 1-Case Feed & Size; 2-Prime, then Powder Charge and "M" Expand (powder-thru expander); 3-Powder Check (lockout die); 4-Bullet Feed; 5-Seat; 6-Crimp.
Typical for rifle: After depriming and tumbling, I size a batch separately, on another press....then trim..... Then on the progressive: 1-Case feed and expand with "M" Expander die; 2-Prime, then Powder Charge; 3-powder check; 4-Bullet Feed; 5-Seat; 6-Crimp.
Thoughts?
I use the RCBS Tube bullet feeder with it's "M" die for .223 and .308.....that's the "M" die I refer to above....it makes the rifle bullets sit perfectly. For pistol the "M" shelf is in the powder measure.
Just unboxed my Six Pack a couple days ago, so I'm not even up to newbie levels with it yet, but have been reloading on their Classic turret since 2008. At 74 arthritis is not a friend to my finger strength tightening those breech lock bushings. A guy I watched on YouTube recommended a lock nut wrench off Amazon and I guarantee it's affordable and solves my issue 100%. Try it and you'll luv it. It even stores in the slot on the press for their plastic wrench. The 1/2" size is what the bushings use.

I'm all for that wrench. My 73 year old hands & fingers thank you! Just as soon as this NW New Mexico blizzard stops, I'm heading to Lowes to look for it!
John Lee has some great ideas.....but I don't think his new wrench is one of them...sorry John....
