Let’s see and hear about your favorite Rimfire handgun.

I have only shot maybe two dozen different .22lr handguns so far.
But IMHO the very best far and wide is the Hämmerli 215.
Perfect weight.
Perfect balance.
Perfect trigger.
The grip that came with the gun was crap and not original. So I changed it to something worthy this gun.

That Hämmerli looks like a truly fine .22 target pistol ; the grips are NILL , if my observation is correct? No better grip on the market , if you ask me.

I must say , however , that seeing those steel tools shoved through the trigger guard makes me cringe.

My rimfires are used for walking prairie doggers. My favorite right now is probably my Picuda with 3-9X PFI Rapid Reticle for longer range prairie dogs. But my latest build will no doubt be my favorite--a Sav. Striker 17" Krieger 22.

Yes that Single Six was a bit of a reclamation job but credit really should go to the Flitz Polish, which did most of the work! Something like that which can clean, protect, and preserve the blued parts without harming or removing any of the finish is pretty remarkable stuff! Found the grips at a gun show and they were like new in their original packaging. Put them on and they were a perfect fit, like they were made for my gun, as was the .22 Magnum cylinder I picked up at another gun show.

Still lookin' good after all these years!

@bannockburn I am starting to feel like we have similar tastes....

I don't have any pictures of my actual AMT Automag II, but here's one from the internet.

9 round magazine, .22WMR, 6 inch barrel. The first handgun I bought.

This thing is slim, light, and a LOAD of fun to shoot! I had great fun shooting at soda cans out to 100 yards with it. Very accurate, very consistent.

And what a BEAUTIFUL muzzle flash to accompany the noise!

They are from Nill. Not that many company making grips for those older guns.

I was VERY careful when putting the tools though.
But next time I'm gonna use something made from plastic. Can't see you cringing

IMG_1950.jpg My favorite rimfire handgun ..... I doubt that , when S&W issued the .22 Outdoorsman in 1931 , they had any idea what a long lasting ship they were launching. Many years later came the model 17 - same basic revolver - then the stainless version model 617. Still in production today , in fact.

One of the reasons that this is my favorite rimfire handgun is that it has the Call style front sight with a 14 karat gold bead (see IMG_0121.jpg inset); that deluxe feature was offered for a very short time , first year only I believe. This one dates from early in that first year of 1931 ; still shoots like a dream.

I am like a lot of the guys herein that I tend to like all the rimfires and am blessed to own plenty... I love my 41 S&W and my ruger MK series both the 6 7/8 and the 5.5 bull barrels a LOT .... the Smith 17 and 617 and the ruger single six all are at the top of their game also... I guess it really depends on what I am doing although not much a good 41 or MK II won't do :)

I have quite a few rimfire handguns. A good rimfire anything is a thing of beauty to me. Especially the older ones. Back in the day firearm manufacturers put a lot of effort in their rimfires. They were not just beat around or truck guns. They put as much effort in their rimfires as they did centerfires. It would be hard to pick just one as a favorite. The three I like most would be my 1976 Colt woodsman sport, 1958 Smith and Wesson model 18 no dash and a 1940 Smith and Wesson 22/32 heavy frame, hand ejector, target. They are just very well made and really easy on the eyes.

Here are my favorites. The Buckmark Plus was my first .22 handgun. The pre-lock S&W 317 is a replacement for an earlier specimen that I foolishly parted with.

My Ruger MKI 6 7/8” heavy tapered barrel Target. Filled it full of Volquartsen goodies and it’s just an easy and fun gun to shoot well.

Here is my version. It's a Mark II. Just an utterly reliable, very accurate pistol. A real joy to shoot. I like the look of walnut grips.

There is a bunch of sweet 22’s in this thread. Very nice. Its always nice to swing by the range after work and mess around with the pinker. Not all guns need to be serous “tools”.

Super accurate. Boringly reliable, runs well with pretty much any ammo. Sweet trigger, thanks to Volquartsen.

Point of impact changes a lot with different ammo. tight groups, just a few inches one way or another. I keep it sighted in for CCI-SV.
