I think (of those choices), the .22s are the most funnest. Whether DA revolver or semi-auto, .22s stand at the top of my heap.

If I had a rolling block .22 pistol, that might change, but I don't have one.

Big bore auto; duh, 1911.
Even though I don't currently own one, I voted small bore DA revolver for my other vote. Preferably S&W 17 or Colt OMM.

Small bore semi-auto target pistol and 1911 in 9mm or 38 Super, but there's a significant gap between first and 2nd place.
Everything from shooting small game to small groups, pinging steel as fast as you can pull the trigger...teaching beginners, not spending hours looking for brass and not spending a fortune keeping it fed. You can't beat a .22 target pistol such as the MK's or similar for pure, cheap, efficient fun.

I can beat a 22 for new shooters, I stacked so much 9 that it really is cheap and a bunch that isn't brass cased is steel cased and some that are brass cased are headstamps that I don't even bother worrying about getting back or not. And it's very easy to teach new shooters with, there's no narrative that only one can teach or be fun with. It's all how it's being taught and done with.

22 isn't necessary for every shooter to have, it's just another option to choose from but if you think that you can't be without one, then that is on you really. I personally know small petite females that have more fun shooting a 45 ACP than a 22LR really.

I only picked one in my first response, but realized the thread asked for two, so in addition to Target Style 22Lr Semiauto pistols…

Integrally suppressed pistols.

I’ve had a SilencerCo Maxim 9 integrally suppressed 9mm for several years, and have an integrally suppressed Ruger Mark IV upper in process right now which I’ve been able to demo a few times… no ear pro, just pure enjoyment.

I’ve been BEGGING SilencerCo to release a 45acp or 10mm Maxim to add enough power to hunt with them. Would LOVE to have one in 460Rowland, but betting against this one.

medium bore revolver: s&w 10-5 38sp k-frame. i got it gently used a year ago. after replenishing my 38sp ammo stash i have shot it more, smooth as warm butter…

small bore semiauto pistol: ruger sr22. everyone needs a 22lr plinker, mine just happens to be a sr22. i have put 10k or so pleasurable rounds through it. it’s handy and accurate enough to be a soft-shooting ccw for my humble needs.

Lets see...
First wheel gun I ever bought was a Model 29 in 44 mag.
Have had a 45 my entire life
Now have a 44 1860 Army.

Better question would be, and one got any not big bore, I dont

I voted for big bore single actions like Uberti Colts or real Colts (Rugers are a no go). I include cap and ball revolvers in this. I also voted for big bore automatics, .45 ACP 1911's only. OTOH .22 single actions and 1911 .22's are hella fun too.

Sort of tough to pick, they’re all fun!

I voted big bore SA and small bore auto.

So far those two are leading the vote count, so I guess I am in good company

My favorite fun SA, .44 Spl Blackhawk.

My favorite fun smallbore auto, Ruger Mk IV with the 10” barrel upper installed.

Stay safe.

I think .22 rimfire autopistols are the most fun. But I enjoy shooting the .25 ACP and .32 ACP pistols too (if I can block the price out of my head).
I secondarily like shooting my .38 Special revolver as well.

These are not what I carry primarily for self defense, but I find them enjoyable. I do have some harder calibers, but I do not find them as much fun. Useful, but not enjoyable.

I have not had the pleasure of shooting each of the choices, but, based upon past experience with my S&W Model 17, .22 LR, and my Colt Ace, which is a .22 LR 1911, well, Small Bore DA revolver, and Small Bore Automatic.

That's awesome...

I came at this a little different.

My TC Contender ranks very high for fun to shoot. My favorite barrels right now are a 7 TCU (both full power for IHMSA and a mouse fart for standing practice), and a 8" 32 ACP chamber on a 0.308" stub tube barrel. Both are small bore, so that gets one vote.

My next choice came down to either a 38Sp LCRx, or my recently assembled "Lo Point" (3D printed frame, cheap Hi Point everything but the frame "parts kit") that shoots 9mm rounds at 380 power level. Both of these are ultra low cost ($1.25 for 50 with reloaded primers) and are easy to load for using a tumble lube cast bullet. It was close, but the 7 rounds per loading I use for the Lo Point beat out the 5 rounds per loading for the LCRx.

And note that I exercised the "fun factor" as described above (everything except the 32 ACP) twice this week.

So far pretty evenly spread, really. I voted medium and small bore automatics because the guns I enjoy the most are .30/.32/9mm semi-automatics and .22s. I like .45acp a lot as well but I don’t really feel it’s different enough from “medium bore” to warrant its own category, unlike revolvers where a .45 colt is a distinctly different experience from a .38spl.

Big-bore DA revolver and medium-bore semi-auto for me (with big-bore semi-auto just barely behind the latter).

I own some fine .22 LR target pistols, but, truth be told — and I know I’m in the minority — I find rimfire pretty boring, and I don’t shoot them frequently at all.

I think the entire SR line from ruger is completely under rated.
Great pistols indeed.
SR22 SR9 SR9C SR40 SR40C? SR45
I want an SR10.

I picked medium bore because it covers the most ground. 9mm being the most affordable for factory ammo. I really want a 357/38 single action with a 9mm cylinder. I do lii on be plinking with 22. But it’s the broad range of middle calibers that clinched it. It’s super hard to deny the fun of a 45 auto but ammo prices have gone up. So I picked based on fun by the mile. Once I get loading the options will change a little.

Rimfire 22 for my funest shootin'

Moonclip feed revolvers and high capacity semiautos.
High capacity doesn't exist in the RKBA vernacular, standard capacity does.

The enemy is lurking, reading, and LEARNING for the next ban writeups to be voted on.

I meant what I said, high capacity, handguns with extended magazines. The XD-40 factory magazine holds 12 rd mine have extensions to bring that to 16. My Remington R1 Limited (2011) factory magazines hold 16 rds, my tuned and extended magazines for USPSA Limited division hold 19 insertable on a closed slide 20 rds open slide.
