I often wonder why people try to stretch the performance of the AR15 with custom chamberings when they could just get an AR10
If you want to experiment, that's fine. If you just want the performance it's hard to beat the 308

I have an AR10 and just don't care for it. Just so much bigger and heavier with a lot of reciprocating mass. After taking both out to shoot in the same day I put the AR10 up for sale. I will say I recently handled a DPMS gen2 and they are very very nice handling. If someone handed you one in the dark you really wouldn't know the difference between it an an AR15. 308 performance from a 16" barrel leaves a lot to be desired in my opinion though.
