For everyone out there who loves lever action guns, check out the latest issue of Shooting Times to see what Hornady has done for use. Their new LeverEvolution ammo allows you to use pointed bullets with a much better ballistic coefficient in tubular magazines. They have several articles describing the ammo for 30/30, 35 rem. and the .444. Gives me the itch to buy another lever gun. Going to need another gun safe to fit it or will have to sell one of my current long guns.:what:

So did they change the primer somehow or do you still have to limit yourself to one plus one capacity?

I saw an article on this... that polymer tip deforms instead of punching into the primer ahead of it. It don't effect aerodynamics. As to how well it'll perform on game, I'd say nobody knows yet.

One of the articles was using the new LeverEvolution ammo on an elk hunt. Evidently it worked just fine. No ballistic gelatin studies as yet.

Well, unless somebody's a monetary tightwad (myself not knowing the price) or a total skeptic as to whether it'll do anything regular .30-30 won't do, I'd say that's enough of an answer to justify trying some.

Lever lovers

I just checked it out on a Hornady site last night. It's pretty sweet. They have a 10 minute video showing the safety drills they put the rounds through, pretty impressive, 15 feet drops to mimick a gun falling out of a tree stand and hitting a rock.

They claim it turns a 100-150 yard round into a 250-300 yard round due to the improved aerodynamics the plastic tip affords.

Saw it as an ad on g&a website. The site was absolutely polluted with the ads, Hornady's pretty excited would be my guess.

jeepmor:)

I wish they would make .44 and .357 with a polymer tip as well to add range to those cartridges in rifles.
