Looks like the panic buying has already started.

I was on my way (2.5 hour drive) to pick up an Hk MR556 on Friday, before the shooting took place. By the time I got there the store was beginning to get crowded. By the time I left you could not walk in the store. The store sold more than 30 AR's while I was there. Although the Hk wasn't a panic but, the 5200 various rounds of ammo, wasn't as planned. I had plans on about 1000-2000 rounds, oh well. I had never seen that many people, just buying whatever the store had in stock.

Hope this doesn't spill over and affect the price of guns that are at no risk of being banned. I'm looking to buy a shotgun for trap shooting soon.

Couldn't happen to be because it's Christmas time could it?
I did notice a lot more women at the gun show this weekend.

My guess too....
I know there are 3 handguns and a Red Ryder under my Christmas tree right now.
Lots of women in the LGS asking questions for gifts and not sure of what they were supposed to be picking out, when I picked up a couple boxes of buckshot yesterday.

Went to my local gun shop today. I stood at the counter over 45 minutes waiting for someone to help me.

While I was there I saw 6 AR-15's and a PRT-91 sold. One guy even bought two - a pair of Rock River's, one in 308, one in 223; matching set.

Business was booming.

Well, I'm heading out to my LGS to buy my first EBR, we'll see how it goes. BTW, firearms owner for 50+ years and my M1A was going to be my one and only.

No more if I can make it work.

Well, I got lucky and nabbed the last NIB Ruger SR556 he had in stock. It was like a zoo in there, I actually waited in the AR platform line in order to eventually talk to the owner about what to get. The shop is all out of 5.56mm ammo but will be getting a shipment delivered in a few days. I'll get a couple k rounds when they show up.

The self fulfilling prophecies. Their going to ban guns, everyone runs out and buys more. Americans are crazy for guns so we need to ban them. Rinse and repeat. We're all dead on the 21st so what does it really matter?

My job tells me that we only have to work half a day on Friday the 21st, on the last day of the world, of course.

Went to the biggest LGS in the area today and was told when I got there that background checks were running five hours, twenty minutes later the owner was running around saying that no one in here gets a gun today, they'll have to come back tomorrow. It was a total zoo. We'll probably never see "normal" again. At least until all we can buy are revolvers and single-shot .22's.

If any introduced legislation dies in the house, as it seems probable that it would, things will calm down significantly after that. It may even be like in the wake of the '09 panic where people suddenly are dumping all the stuff they bought in a panic but don't really want anymore. The saturation of the market led to lower prices on ARs than before when it all started.

Bought a couple more Ruger factory 20-rounders for my mini-14 last night, plus another another thousand rounds of M855. I wanted M193 but that is apparently already all gone from the usual online outets.

I'm really afraid they'll go after 5.56 ammo in some way this time, as there are only a tiny number of non-semiauto rifles that take that cartridge.

CTD in Ft Worth only has 1 style of AK left out of the 8 they usually stock. They have 1 type of AR lower left (out of the 6 normally offered) and their 5.56 NATO is at $660/1,000...for the time being.

Also, I had a friend call me that works a major store up there, seems everything in the AK platform disappeared so they got swamped...their last 18 WASR-10's sold out in 6 minutes.

Not sure if it was panic buying, but lots of sales this weekend at the gun show.

I just want to find a regular 10/22 or Mark III in stock somewhere! Local Academy Sports has plenty of AR's.

Normally 195.00 at Academy, the maroons at the local EasyPawn had a bone stock 10-22 in the rack for 219.00, what gives with that? Really, no scope or anything and they wanted 219, go figure!

Easy Pawn probably doesn't buy in the numbers that Academy does and likely pays more....24 bucks is hardly price gouging.

I was one of the buyers. I was planning a build on a DPMS LR-308 lower, but rather my wife encouraged me to pick up a whole rifle. A base model, but with 90% of the parts I need.

While I was checking out a guy came in and asked if they had any more. He had called 10min ago and was rushing in to get one. I got the last of three that day. They also almost sold out of all AR's, mag fed bolt guns, and cheap .223 and .308 ammo. Anything Semi auto was flying including .22's.

Glad I got mine when I did.

I have been calling CDNN all day....busy...busy...busy. I have been thinking about a LE6920 for a while and the past few days events have moved me toward it. I hate to add to any panic buying but I am concerned about the future.

So over the weekend I sit down and give this some thought. What guns that I own could be affected? Over the years I would buy a magazine here or there when walking gun shows and the same for reloading components.

All in all this morning I ordered 10 20 round AR15 mags and 10 30 round AR15 mags from Armalite. I would have likely bought them anyway. Everything else I own is pretty well covered. Actually I really didn't overly need what I bought but what the hell.

Tomorrow I should call my friend who owns a local gun shop and see what's new.

Ron

I was going to try out some Armscor 223.. but damned if I can find any online. Had to shop around to get some P-mags ordered.

Yeah, folks are scared.

Here we have a 7 day wait before we can take a gun home, including FFL transfers. I started paperwork for my new .22 bolt action CZ last Wednesday. If I was of the paranoid variety, I might just grab an AK or an AR instead, since the check is already on and there's nothing to tie the paperwork with a specific weapon or platform. Nah... I'm going to love my new .22. I just may pick up a few extra 30 round .223 mags though.
