Looks like there may soon be more Constitutional carry states

With all due respect, how would you know?
Years of observation, basically. Couple things I'd like to point out though. One, your class may have been great. I know I did my best to make ours great and memorable and I've taken several that were. That doesn't mean, at all, that all of them are. Second, even if it's the greatest and most informative one or two day class ever, that doesn't mean that people will learn all that they need to in that extremely short amount of time, or that they will retain what they did learn. That would require a continued interest and intentional, self motivated pursuit of knowledge and competence in the subject. That's something that only a small minority (IMO) will do, and not because they're required to, because they want to.

COLUMBUS, Ohio — As of June 12, you no longer need a permit or training to carry a concealed handgun in Ohio.

Gov. Mike DeWine on Monday signed Republican-backed legislation to allow people in the state to carry a concealed handgun without a permit or training and no longer require them to proactively tell law enforcement during traffic stops that they’re armed.

OK, governor signed off on the bill so in 90 days (12 June 2022) it becomes law. Here is something interesting. I live in the Cleveland, Ohio suburbs. Cleveland, Ohio and surrounding suburbs are part of Cuyahoga County. Since the law will change on 12 June 2022 the county is reviewing all pending cases of those charged with unlicensed carrying of a gun and dropping the charges assuming any of them are not under a gun disability. Thus a case by case review. They are also not issuing citations to those carrying a gun who are not under a gun disability. Other counties are still pursuing charges and will prosecute those carrying a concealed weapon less having a CHL (Concealed Handgun License). I see this as a waste of time and money. Several of the county Sherriff's I have seen oppose this law and state how they will oppose this new law come across as morons. An armed citizen who abides by the law is not their problem or something to fear.

The prosecutor will toss them out before the court even opens in the morning.

Ohio's MO is to harass the troublemakers as much as possible, then let them go if they aren't real felons. Generally, if your facing concealed pistol charges, it's stacked on top of other charges you got caught for.

Ohio has always seemed like one of the nicer states, to me.

Overall compared to several other states yes, Ohio is pretty gun friendly. Here in Cuyahoga County case by case the prosecutor is already tossing cases out. Being NYC born and raised I will take Ohio over where I was originally born and raised. :)

It's a bit facetious, Munny. But at least in Ukraine and a lot of other less than desirable places to live, you can arm yourself to maybe keep a fellow demented rider on a subway car from killing you and others.

That's great to hear. Being from SW Ohio, all the news I've heard out of Cleveland over many years was less than gun friendly even though Ohio generally is (relatively) gun friendly .

Being in SW Ohio, I'm keeping my permit though. I travel through the 3 States frequently and although IN will very soon join us, we still have to deal with the school zone issue.

Ukraine is an active war zone and even before that was exceptionally corrupt. You are more likely to be a victim of crime in that country than in NYC, which is comparatively safe among US cities. And if you had your choice of borough you could rig that even more in your favor. I don't care for the restrictive NY carry regulations either, but I would still rather be there then in Ukraine.
