Lowest recoil in 9mm

After shooting my .357 Mag and .45ACP commander sized pistols, My XD-9 feels like a Ruger Bearcat. The sights are back on target so relatively quickly that I don't even notice that it is appreciably recoiling. That may be a quirk of the polymer frame, but I do notice that it shifts a little more upward as the mag empties and unbalances the weight of the piece, which is a fairly strange phenomenon to me, but not alarming in any way.

Recoil in the duty rounds is pretty subjective when you get to fire the odd .454 or larger wheelgun. I really want that new Ruger .45 Colt/.454 snubbie Super Redhawk because I seem to be relatively recoil insensitive.

Edit: Naturally, I mean compared to pistols of a similar "build", not your 4 pound brick that happens to be chambered in 9mm...

Arcus 94 IMO

I have Glock, SA, Steyr, Walther, Star and the Arcus. The Arcus has less felt recoil IMO than any of the 9's that I own.

I haven't shot one but I'm guessing a Glock 17C, which has a ported barrel, has low muzzle flip. 9mm is kind of snappy so you need a pistol that is muzzle heavy or compensated.

Have a Browning coming but of my two now the STI Trojan in the 1911 format the recoil seems to be significantly lighter than my CZ85. This is due to the weight of the Trojan. Hardly moves! Like them both but the Trojan tigger is pretty hard to beat. Breaks at around four pounds with no creep and a quick reset.

My P228 isn't bad, but after about 5K rounds, I'm used to it. A lot of it depends on the ammo you are using. The Glock 17 shooting most of the standard ball ammo loads isn't bad.

Beretta 92. The recoil comes almost straight back. No muzzle flip. And the recoil is very mild. Feels almost like shooting .38 specials out of a 6" Colt Python.

I think the Glock 17 has the least percieved recoil for me of all of the 9mm pistols I've fired, although I had a chance to fire a Walther P-88 and that didn't seem too bad either. Least percieved recoil overall shooting a 9mm was probably an Uzi. It seemed easier to keep the Uzi on target than an MP-5. Could be a stock-fit/cyclic-rate issue there though.

Hrmm... Probably the Glock 17 and Steyr M9. I've never experienced a full size or mid size 9mm that really offended me with its recoil though...

My Springfield Stainless Target Loaded 9mm actually surprised me with how much recoil it had. With the lesser recoil spring, it just isn't reduced from lightweight 45 loads as much as I thought it would be. I loved it however.

Are you really interested in the least recoil or the quickest shooting? Even if the G17 has the least recoil, I still think a nicerly adjusted 1911 in 9mm would probably be the quickest shooting 9mm. I really like CZs and BHPs. And the 9mm 1911. If I had to spend a lot of time shooting a 9mm it would be either a CZ, BHP (with worked trigger) or a 1911.

Recoil is not even something I think about when shooting a 9mm. I only have one 9mm--all my other handguns are of larger caliber. After shooting off 50 rounds of .357 through my Taurus 605, my CZ75B feels like shooting spitballs through a straw.

My CZ75B doesn't recoil enough to even worry about. The recoil from my Beretta 92 was neglible, but the pistol was too big, so I traded it for a 1911.

for me, 9mm pistolas USPc, P7M8, and STI Trojan, I would say felt recoil is the least in the full sized Trojan.
