BTW it is -9 F outside so indoor range is the way I plan to go.

Larry -- Where do you shoot in Minnesota? I used to shoot at Burnsville until I joined an outdoor club (so I'll be shooting outside. -2 last I looked - it's not the heat so much, it's the humidity.)

I've heard that the casino at Mystic Lake South of Minneapolis has a great indoor range.

Just wanted to see this thread at the top to get some more participants. Hope the weather is decent saturday to shoot. Boon

Ready,
I sent you a scan of my target in tif format. If you prefer another format let me know. JPG may have been faster to send and receive.

Anyway it was 19 degrees when I shot. Only fired 6 rounds for practice (to get the dust out of the barrel) before the official shoot. I used my EAA 380 because I don't have a 357 or 38 wheelgun. I guess I could have used my wife's Rossi model 88 but she would have made me clean it. LOL

The EAA 380 was my first concealed carry gun and I still use it for deep cover carry most of the time. This pistol has fired approximately 20,000 rounds (I should do EAA comercials). I bet there aren't a lot of EAA 380's that have seen that much use.

I'll be interested to here the story behind other targets.

Scott

This is one of the most original ideas I have seen in a long time. ReadyontheRight, you get January's award for "Most Original Online Competition". Awesome...

A quick scoring question. Looking at the attached file, I understand that point A would score an 8, point C would score a 9, but what would point B score? Thanks.

[edit - let's see if I can't get that image to work... There, now she's a JPEG instead. Let's see what happens.]

Thanks for the clarification. Once again, fun idea, despite some of the initial wrinkles.

Gives the phrase "going postal" a new meaning...

playing with my camera

Thoguht I'd show a pic of the conditions I shot under. This is my backstop. It's approximately 110 yds out my backdoor up the hillside. I have a 5yd wide clearing going all the way up to it so I can take longer shots with my rifles.

Scott

P.S. yes, it was a pain to tote those railroad ties up the hill. The black squares are half inch thick rubber mats nailed up 5 deep. The mats catch most of the bullets without leting them through to the wood. Some of the rifle bullets do make it through though.

Well it was -2 already and dropping. So I chickened out again. I feel as temp goes below zero the odds of problems increase exponentillly. Being brokd down at night in -15 before windchill is not my idea of fun. Hopefully it will be nicer next week. That or shoot it outside.

Just shoot and have fun. If anyone has a few fliers, we only count the six holes on the paper.

Well apparantly I sucked worse than I thought... Tight little groups? Heck I'd have been happy with ANY kind of group.... :scrutiny:

Did I have fun? But of course, anytime at the range is fun..... :D

I will put the target in the mail tomrrow and hope it gets to you in time but if not, it's not that big of a deal... Measly 22 points.... :what: :D

Guess I should practice with David's guns a little more often....:D

Although the temperature hovers around 3°C I shot the January target today.

E-Mail is on the way!

Have a nice weekend,

Ready I sent it out in email but I think It is messed up as it is coming in 36 parts I think. Computering is not on of my strong points. Boon (You might tell me another way to send it.)

@ ReadyontheRight

It would be nice to know how many people are participating.
Can you tell us a number?

Thanks

Boondocker -- Your e-mail did come to me in 36 files. After 30 it filled up my mailbox.

It's probably best if you just mail it via classic mail to Mail in Match, PO Box 24211, Minneapolis, MN 55424-0211.

Glock_17 -- I think we're up to 20+ participants at this point. Hopefull we'll have more, but that's pretty good for the late notice.

BTW - Bedlamite has put together a great target for February's match. It will be posted Feb 1st.

Mailed mine if Friday night so hopefully it makes it in on time.

Next months match going to be handgun as well???

Rats! I just found this now...I guess I'll wait for next month's match.

BTW, I appreciate that you'll be changing it to allow younger shooters. I may only be 19, but I legally own 4 handguns and compete in bullseye pistol matches for my university, as well as high power rifle, IDPA, and Cowboy Action. I like to think that I am a safe and responsible shooter, regardless of my age. ;)

Nuts, I forgot about this over the weekend. I'll try to remember to get out tomorrow and send the target in a scan.

what a timely contest

what a timely idea, I got a new blackhawk a couple weeks ago, used it for the first time on this here shootin match yesterday. good idea i hope this takes off, it could be some fun.:D

Question...
Down loaded target...
Etc.
How do you guys clean the powder burns off it?
:neener:

Why do you have powder burns on your target?
Just use cookie cutters! :neener:

Disclaimer: This is a sarcastic comment. The technique advertised is not recommendend - and kids: don't try this at home!

Whats with the cutoff date of the end of the month to receive the target?

How about this for a schedule?

Targets have to be postmarked by the end of the month (Jan 31st) for scoring and posting scores.
Scores posted for previous month (Jan) on website/etc on the middle of this month (Feb 15).
Target for this month (Feb) posted on website/etc on the middle of last month (Jan 15th).

So, there is a 45-day or so period with which to shoot the target. Felt rushed to do the January match, since its the first.
