February Mail in Match for Fellow THR Members

Oh sounds fun!

Now let me make sure I am not breaking any rules. I can only print and shoot one target right? However, there is nothing wrong with me doing quite a bit of practice on just paper before hand right? Plus I need to get sighted in. As long as I shoot at my target just once and for 20 consecutive shots correct?

Fun fun fun fun. Good job organizers!!! I will most certainly be in the improved, scoped class. Good luck everyone! Good choice on firearm this month. Lots of people can participate in this one.

Upgrading to Adobe 5.0 fixed the problem. I got the pepsi can now. I think the dot I was getting is where the x was inserted. Anyway I'll shoot it when the weather is co-operative.

Scott

Boy that was a little more challenging than I thought. I could hit that X all day long prone with the bipod. Standing??? I got a 14-0x. Not too bad.

I really liked this match. It was a fun one. Keep 'em coming.

Ideas for the next match? Hmmmm. Surplus rifle at 100 yards any position. Or here would be a fun one. Make it a team match. All .223 scores vs. .308 scores!!! Or, heaven forbid, 9mm vs. .45ACP!!!!!!!!! There are good ideas. Just make it an average. If you really want, make a shotgun match. One round of trap. Just make a signature line for the puller to say something like, "I certify that the shooter announced to me that this round would be for a postal shoot and their score was ____" I am not a trap shooter and wouldn't participate, but what the heck. Problem is you might get a lot of 25s and no way to pick a winner.

What other calibers do I have? 7.62x54, .30-06, .308, 7.5x55, 6.5x55, 8mm, .30-30 (LEVER GUN MATCH!!!), .30 carbine, 7.62x39 (SKS/AK Match), 9mm, .40 S&W, .45 ACP.

As you can tell, this is fun for me and I really like this idea and really look forward to the March match.

El Rojo - Before it's too late, ROTR did say we could shoot one target for each category if we wish assuming we have the proper rifle for the category. Correct me if I'm wrong on the details, ROTR. You can print and shoot one-and-only-one target per category, but you cannot use the same rifle in more than one category. IOW, if you have one .22 rifle, you'll shoot one category target only. If you have 2 .22's and they are in different categories, you can shoot 2 targets, etc.

That does sound fair. If you have a stock .22 with a scope you can shoot that in one catagory and shoot your .22 custom with scope in another. Man, that means I have one more target that I can print and shoot!

Now is it still 50 yards for the pistol class? :what:

Again, stop me if I'm wrong ROTR, but if a rifle has a scope, any scope, it is to be used only in the top two categories - scoped or "any rifle". IOW, you couldn't enter your stock rifle w/scope in the stock rifle class, but could enter it in the "any rifle". Actually you could probably enter either rifle in the "any" and the other in the scoped class.

ROTR,
Check your e-mail. Didn't think my target would get there in time by regular mail. This months match made me get around to giving my 10/22 some badly needed attention. I had put it aside because it needed some work. Thanks for making me get it back out.

Scott

I get the feeling that I intially misunderstood the classes. So there are only 4 classes. You are in only one. Either stock .22 rifle, imporved .22 rifle, scoped .22 rilfe of any sort, or open class for those without .22 rifles.

I was thinking that you were either in stock .22 open sights or improved .22 open sights. Or you could be in stock .22 scoped or improved .22 scoped. Now I see I was mistaken.

That sucks because I gave my Winchester 190 a thorough cleaning the other day after work (it was filthy!) and then went out and shot it today. The amazing thing is despite it having only a 9x scope, considerably less money invested, and a horrible trigger, I lucked into a 13-0x! One shot was exactly along the line of the can. I mean it is as close as you can get without being able to call it a hit!!! With my super custom 10/22 I got a 14-0x! Go figure. I saved the picture file so I might just have to go out and shoot that thing again here sometime soon.

So since both of those firearms are scoped, I can only enter one of them right? DV how do we know if you received our targets? Could you let me know? I e-mailed them. Thanks.

Sorry I've been unable to get online and respond to questions.

Go ahead and enter in up to 4 classes each -- as long as it's 4 different guns. As I posted before, I'll compromise the rules somewhat to encourage multiple firearm ownership.:D

El Rojo -- I've received one target from you via e-mail. I need to check the PO box.

A scoped .22 should go into the "Scoped" class. The "Open" class is to allow entry to those who don't own a version of the featured weapon. Same yardage though.

I'll give us all a few extra days to get out and shoot this weekend and send it in.

I will have time to set up the March match this weekend and it will take Bedlamite a while to get the target posted. Thanks again Bedlamite for all your help and to all of you for participating! This should get real fun when the weather gets better and the days get longer!

ROTR,
I forwarded some targets that were accidently sent to me. Let me know if there is anything I can do to help. It's probably getting to be a big job processing all the targets and all. These matches are a hoot.

Scott

And -- Theeee winners!

Stock and Overall winner -- Deputy Vaughn 18-1X with a Ruger 10/22
Improved -- Pappy John 16-1X with an improved Ruger 10/22
Scoped -- El Rojo 14-0X with a scoped Ruger 10/22

Nice shooting everyone! Those Ruger 10/22s must have something going for them.

I just got my Mossberg M44, so we'll have to do another .22 plinker event this summer - possibly a Coke can this time, or maybe an Evian bottle.:D

Shoot in March's 9mm vs. .45 ACP Mail in Match here.

Overall Mail in Match Leaders - combined Jan/Feb Scores:

Deputy Vaughn 69/80-2X
Thirties 62/80-2X
Bedlamite 59/80-0X
CharleyM3 58/80-0x

I don't understand!

Hey guys,

I am honored to have won this match. However, I don't understand!!! How could I have possibly won the scoped class with a 14-0x? Didn't anyone else enter? How did Deputy Vaughn win the stock class with an 18-1x without a scope? I guess he is just a darn fine shooter! How did Pappy John get a 16-1x which is lower than Deptuy Vaughn with an improved 10/22? Am I the only one that is perplexed by this all?

Hey, I should just keep my mouth shut and accept the win, but it just all seems so odd. I can't wait to do March now!

The secret is "MAGIC" ammo.

Actually I'm not big on Federal ammo except for the 10/22. The Federal HP jacketed hollow points are the only ammo my 10/22 both feeds and shoots well. My 10/22 won't even feed Winchester ammo. These matches are great though. I'm looking forward to seeing how my EAA Witness 45acp does against the others out there. I'll be using my duty gun (Sig 226 9mm) for the 9mm shooting.

Scott

I wasn't going to enter the March contest as I don't have a .45, and I rarely shoot 9x19.

But now that I'm running second place overall, I will definitely give it a shot.

This is fun, R-O-T-R. Thank you a bunch for hosting these contests!

I had a feeling the only reason I won was because I was the only score received. What is wrong with all of you High Roaders? Get out and participate in these matches. Here I thought I was some hot shot shooter, turns out, I was the only shooter. Come on guys. Don't be such poor sports. Get out there and compete. I don't do it so much for the competing, I do it so I get out and shoot. It makes me get out and enjoy my firearms when I might otherwise decide I am too tired or too busy. Quit being bumps on logs. Lets go!

PS: Since no one else entered, can you put down my other score for my Winchester just to show I shot two different guns on two different days? If I got out twice, everyone else ought to get out at least once.
