Assault weapons ban,
House bill 1240 passed the house. Headed for the senate where it is expected to pass. It has an "emergency provision" whereby as soon as Inslee puts pen to paper it takes effect.
House bill 1240 is I believe the most restrictive gun control bill in the nation. It not only bans most semi auto rifles, it also bans many semi auto shotguns, semi auto pistols with threaded barrels, and...get this...parts. No parts for any "Assault weapons". No bolts, bolt carriers, springs, triggers, barrels, handguards, nothing.
So now everyone is flocking to the gunshops for what could be the last chance in our lifetime if you are a state resident, to buy an "assault weapon", aka a ruger 10/22.
However, because the governer is expected to sign the bill as soon as it passes the senate, and its set to pass senate on monday, the bill will take effect immediately, thereby any transfers uncompleted by the time its signed will be null.
By the time all these people knew what was coming it was literally too late. Transfers take at least a week.
Some gun shops are taking peoples money, some are explaining and turning people away. It will be interesting to see how this one plays out.
