So I just ordered a few things from Midway and they were all "out of stock/backorder OK"

I noticed quite a few other things, namely reloading supplies, were "no backorder" and now I'm wondering how long I might have to wait for my stuff.

Anyone have any experience or ideas about how long I will have to wait for backordered stuff?

I order a lot of stuff from Midway especially reloading items. Midway is my favorite online gun stuff store. I never do the back order thing I just check back later. I do know if they are out of something I can usually check back in 3-7 days and it will be back in stock.

The main issue to be aware of is that if your backordered items ship at different times, you will be charged a separate shipping fee for each shipment.

Deal breaker for me. I just wait until it comes off backorder then order all at once.

Ditto what TYY said. I mark the item as "notify when in stock" and then place another order when it comes in. Some things they don't stock much of and they only get one or two in at a time.

If it has a backorder option, they usually tell you when it should arrive. In my experience, th actual ship out times are usually less than the max listed (i.e. 15-30 days ships in 20).

Don't be worried about the other "no backorder" listed. I personally like to see what they DON'T offer anymore, and what price they might have been when available. A lot of those NB items I've seen are discontinued items that have been replaced with something newer and hopefully better. :)

Last option is Brownell's. I used to order more from Midway, until I figured out how to see the "dealer price" that I get with my C&R from Brownell's AND in stock. These particular items were Marlin factory bits that cost less than $2ea, but I needed like ten different ones. I order more From B's now than Midway!

That's wha tI do too.

UPS is a weekly delivery at my house, so regular the UPS guy has my cell number calls me when he's about to deliver and and knows not to leave midwayuse packages unless I'm home. I saw him yesterday and he'll be by again tomorrow.

I've met very few companies that screw one on a backorder shipping charge...

Hardly believe that Midway is one - is that true?

And, hey... It's a turmoil kinda time, what with all the politics - people are shopping heavily.

I currently have an item on backorder with them and its expected date has been pushed back 4 times now since I've ordered it (about 2 months ago). I don't expect to see it at this point and I'm going to cancel my order today. And yes, they do indeed screw you on the shipping, they won't even hold your order for you until the backorder comes in!
I've had success with them in the past but this has been frustrating,

I have been buying reloading equipment and components from Midway for the past three months. So far they are doing great to fulfill my .308 requirements – the only thing that worried me was my second quantity of Winchester brass that went on back order, but it arrived yesterday.

Probably depends upon the supplier.

Be safe, BSR

I have been a customer of Midway for 17+ years. It seems that in the past year they have changed quite a bit, more backorders and shipping has gotten out of hand. I have started using Cabelas and Lock, Stock and Barrel. Prices have been better, items are in stock and shipping is realistic. When a company seems to be making a profit on shipping and handling something is wrong.

I've been trying to order a reloading setup from Midway for months, but every time I try something is backordered. By the time that item is in, something else is out of stock. I'm also not happy at all with their recent price increase. What used to be retail price is now dealer price, and retail price is ridiculous. Lots of stuff I've been looking at is cheaper at Natchez's full price than Midway's dealer price.

And yeah, they DEFINITELY screw you on shipping.

Having to pay the extra shipping for back orders irritates me too but they do have a lot of stuff I can't buy locally so I usually try to wait until what I want is in stock but sometimes you just gotta have it and every thing I've back ordered so far has come pretty quickly, In fact at times, so quickly I've wondered about their practices.

MIDWAY

I just about did the same thing with the backorder /ok on some .44 mag Silvertips at $23/box. Went over to Natchez and saved $4.00 a box and were in stock. I shop around at Natchez, Midway and Cheaperthandirt before I buy. Price isn't everything, but I try to save when I can.
