499th post!

For whatever reason, you have been mistaken for a dangerous criminal suspect.

Several law enforcement officers, weapons drawn, are shouting contradictory commands at you. For example:

LEO #1: "Get on the ground!"

LEO #2: "Don't move!"

LEO #3: "Put your hands where I can see them!"

What do you do?

uhm....you do what they say unless it has been your lifes dream to be a holy man.

If it were gangsters I'd say go down fighting. If it were the unfortunate scenerio that the goverment declared war on its own law abiding citizens/cival war I'd say go down fighting.

But just cops telling you to get on the ground? You get on the ground and sort it out later.

I think someone missed the joke.

"FREEZE!"

"GET ON THE FLOOR!"

"Well... what d'ya s'pose I should do, young fella? You want I should freeze, or you want I should get down on ther floor?" ~Old man, Raising Arizona

It has happened to me. I did exactly what I was told to do.

Way back in the dawn of time when I was in high school a photo shop near my house was held up at gunpoint and the suspects fled in a black firebird. Just happens that a friend of mine was picking me up and he drove a black trans am.

We got stopped two blocks later by 4 cop cars (!!!???) 8 cops surrounded the car, guns drawn and pointed at us, all of them screaming different orders. From the front passenger seat I did the only logical thing possible. I stuck my empty hands out the window and froze. Hands kill. Keep them where the nice armed officer can see them.

Happened to me. Situation was cleared up in about 10 minutes, cop apologized and we parted ways.

Not to say it can't happen anymore but; Even out here where any felony stop is liable to have officers from two or more agencies involved we use the old contact/cover procedure. One officer gives all the commands the others just cover the suspect (s).

The thing to do is follow every command exactly as it is given. If you turn out not to be the person the ppolice are looking for, there will be a short explanation, an apology and you'll be on your way.

Failure to follow every command could have bad results for everyone involved.

I'm going to close this thread now, because I don't see what possible purpose several more replies could serve.
