I was traveling through MSP airport on saturday and had a long layover and took the family to the mall of america. Noticed on the doors a sign saying according to state law gun banned from premis (or close to it). Which i don't remmember seeing when i was there in Jan. I was bumped from my flight and had to stay the Night (all those who travek NREV know what thats like. I noticed a sign like the one at the Mall outside the hotel. A Hotel!!!! ***.

I take there is a Law in MN ccw that places can post no guns.

Is this common in MN?

I am not surprised about the Mall, but a hotel?

A place of business can post a sign banning weapons but i find them to be pretty rare. I also think there are some specific guidelines to follow for the signs to be legit. also i think the worse that can happen if you carry past a sign is you get asked to leave. Don't have me permit yet so I don't know all the specifics.

Businesses post those signs solely for their sake; so they can feel good about the fact that they "ban" guns. Said signs have no practical, day-to-day value and no real impact on MN CCW license holders. Ignore them and continue your day. As long as you don't "expose" yourself you'll be fine.
