Anyone have any info on Mosin Nagant 9130 reloads.Such as a good bullet
powder etc. I know there are a lot of bullet choices. But,need to know weight
dia etc.

I use the 200 gr Sierra Gameking (.308) over 45.0 of IMR4350 in Graf brass. I get 2115 fps in my M44 and the accuracy runs around 1 1/2 to 2" at 100 yds.

That's with an aftermarket stock and a 4X scope.

I have my Lyman 4th Edition Cast Handbook Manual handy:

180 gr (#2) alloy ---> ideal powder is 5744 starting at 20.5 grains (velocity is 1602)

185 grain (10 to 1 Alloy) ---> ideal powder is IMR-4227 starting at 21 grains (velocity is 1622)

200 grain (#2 alloy) --> ideal powder is IMR-4198 starting at 21.5 grains (velocity is 1626)

That's all the data I have at my finger tips. If you need more, PM me. I'm off work due to knee surgery for a few weeks, so I'm pretty bored and will have more than enough time to go through all my books for you.

Also, remember that for a better load, slugging the barrel will help. I had been shooting .308 caliber 150 grain mil surplus bullets with good results, but just recently slugged my bore so I can shoot cast bullets and found the bore is .313...

Im using both .308 and .310 dia hornady bullets over h-4350 at maximum charge weights and getting very good accuracy out of my 91/30. I just loaded some .308 168grn CTBT, they shot into about an inch (cant say for sure as i pulled the last shot in a 5rnd group low and left). Id slug the bore before you pick out bullets for your rifle, if its in the .310 range you can probably shoot .308 dia bullets just fine, larger then that and id stick with .310-.312. Mine slugged .310 or pretty close.

There are too many variables to know what's going to work with a particular 91/30. I'd suggest slugging the bore to start to see what diameter you have, and shooting a range of factory and surplus bullets to see what that rifle likes. Some do best with 148 grain light ball, others with heavy ball, others do best with .312" handloads, others with .308" handloads.

I was going to leave a similar comment.

My dad has an M38 that seems to hate anything surplus, but shoots B-E-A-Utifully with .312 handloads.

I'd definitely slug to start with.

I don't reload this caliber as three rifles I have shoot one inch or less with Privi 150 gr sp at 100 yards.......chris3

None of the loads by DIM are listed as reaching 50,000 cup. Is this erring on the side of safety or are the mosin actions considered to weaker than a 98 mauser?
