What is the most reliable auto loading pistol you've ever owned? I'm talking about stock out of the box - no mods. Any caliber (including rimfires). I'm not using this info to determine my next purchase. Just curious.

I'll start. This one has been a pleasant suprise. Its my Walther P22Q. I know this pistol doesn't have a stellar reputation for reliablility but mine (after near 3500 rounds) has never had a stoppage that was not caused by a cheap audibly underpowered bulk round. It just shoots and shoots and shoots.

A close second (if not outright tie) is my Beretta 92FS. Around 3000 rounds down the pipe with only two hiccups that I can remember (both with cheap Federal WalMart ammo).

The G22 I was issued as a duty weapon about a decade ago. During it's 10+ years of service, I don't recall it ever having a malfunction.

Lets see?

S&W 39-2.
S&W 59.
Several Colt 1911's.
Several SIG's.
Several Walthers.
A Glock.
Several Colt Woodsmen.
A Ruger Standard.
A S&W Model 41.
An Astra Constable.

S&W M&P so far.

Glock 23 was reliable, but only fired about 50-100 rounds through it before deciding to sell. Not a knock on the Glock because for all i know, that gun has fired 50,000 rounds by now without failure. But I can only affirm 50-100 round reliability.

My Ruger P89 is my most reliable. Not the most accurate, best looking, or most expensive, but it will shoot anything! I have shot lead TC reloads, HP's, FMJ light or heavy without failure. I even shot a few .380's out of it by mistake, and it still ran (don't try this!).

Other than a friend limp wristing my Phantom, I haven't had a single problem with any of my CZ's yet and they have thousands of rounds through them. While mine aren't stock, the modifications I've made would have the effect of possibly reducing reliability rather than improving it and yet the guns still run perfectly with whatever ammo I throw at them.

Glock 17 and 19

CZ75 SA

XD .45 (4")

XDm 3.8 9mm

Can't remember a single reliability problem with any of them.

Detonics Combat Master .45ACP

Ruger P345 .45ACP

KelTec PF9 9mm.

Browning BuckMark Bulls Eye Target .22

Ruger MKII .22

+1 for the 39-2 (my first auto). Never had any issues with it.
Also never had any problems with my USP in .40.
Pretty much everything else has had a FTF at one time or another.
(Only had the Glock for a week and a half, so too early to tell.)

In no order...

S&W 4006
Glock 22
CZ 75B
CZ SP-01 Phantom
CZ 82

I have a BHP that is about 99%. Every once in a while it will choke on HP ammo. It has the early feed ramp with a hump.

Hate to sound like a broken record, but my Ruger SR9c has never even had a misfeed. I've run the cheapest ammo possible through it without a hitch. I LOVES TulAmmo - at $9/box.

HK USP45
G20
Rock Island 1911A1 .45ACP
Detonics Combat Master .45ACP
S&W 22A .22LR
Springfield Champion 1911 .45ACP
AMT AutoMag III .30Carbine

The only ones I keep are the reliable ones. Got rid of a Para-Ordnance 14.45 that just wouldn't behave.

Glad to hear that. I pick mine up on Tuesday!

Browning BDM 9mm. The only glitches have been with an aftermarket, non-Browning-made magazine that required work. With the OEM mags, the thing has always run like a top.

Out of the ones I bought new, The Ruger P97 is the only one I never had any sort of issues with.

FIE Titan..well at least mine.
Has never failed...once.
Decent accuracy too, but the bore is starting to go.

I have never experienced a failure from my glock 23, glock 27, glock 22, sig p226, or my hk usp.

The most rounds have been fired from the g23. I would have to check my records, but I believe I'm between 4000 and 5000 rounds.

Strictly from the standpoint of cycling reliability with any ammo I feed them, it would be a tie between Smith & Wesson Third Generation, S&W M&P, and SIG-Sauer P-series. (Not their 1911, which is one of the worst pistols I've ever had.) My Glock 19 is also extremely reliable, but it had some initial feeding problems with hollowpoint ammunition until the magazine followers were replaced, therefore is not quite in this "top tier." The magazine issue was corrected long ago. My CZ75D Compact (PCR) is ammo-"sensitive," not "liking" CCI Blazer aluminum.

Never had a failure from my Glocks...not even once: 17, 19, 21.

Had a Ruger P95DC that never failed either...not once.

Had a S&W M&P .45 that wouldn't reset...pull the trigger...nothing...not even a click. Two trips to S&W and they fixed it but I never got over that.

Had a S&W M&P 9c that never failed but the .45 experience left me soured. All but the Glocks are gone.
