Most under-rated handgun?

Under-rated in what manner?

I think too many people under-rate the revolver in general. Specifically the .38 Special K-Frames (everyone wants a Magnum, then they carry .38 +P).

As for pistols, here's my vote for underrated;

M39_0017cm.jpg
S&W Model 39-2, 9mm, 4" Barrel, 8-round capacity
Light, easy to carry, reliable and accurate.

Pre Charco Charter Arms Bulldog 3" .44spl revolvers. Excellent light weight CCW weapon. Purchased mine in 1980. Back then they were very popular with the LEO community as BUGS. You don't read or hear much about them anymore, but they are still out there! :D

Dan Wesson revolvers are undervalued IMO. With a little trigger and/or spring work they shoot quite well--accurate and very strong.

Polish P-64.

More powerful than the PPK, and $170. I have two of them, and the thing people always gripe about is the DA trigger. SO PULL BACK THE HAMMER! People will find the dumbest things to whine about.

CZ gets my vote. I don't have one yet, but soon will. They have a really nice line coming out this year. I am looking at a few of their models. I think the next would be single action ruger blackhawks.

Another vote for the CZ 75 series guns. These are an excellent value for the money and are underappreciated and undervalued in the US. Not that I mind. I accumulate them.:D

My vote is for Bersa. Krochus if you haven't figuired this out yet let me explain it to you. After 90 sum odd years the 1911 hasn't went away and in the 15 or so years i've been going to the gun shops with my father to present day i've never seen a shop with more CZ's on the racks than 1911's. So what could possibly make you think its going away in a couple of years or even the next couple of decades.

I have several I think are underrated.
Bersas, S&W autos and Stars get little respect outside of these forums but they are all very good guns that can still be bought for good prices. Ruger Six series are also great guns but prices have gone up in the past 5 years to where they are not the best deal anymore. If I can get a nice S&W 19 for $50 more than a Ruger, I got to pick the fine S&W but Ruger is still a good gun.

FN/Browning Hi Power.

Conversations of serious handguns will always include the almighty 1911, SiGs, H&Ks, Walthers, Glocks, and Berettas -- but the Hi Power, which is right up there with all of these top grade guns, rarely if ever rates a mention.

Beretta's 8000 Series.
(8000, 8357, 8040, 8045) aka the "Cougar" Pistols.

They are accurate, reliable, with great ergonomics.Very smooth action and smooth shooting with low recoil.I love my 8000F 9mm.

S&W Model 10 and Ruger Service Six police trade-ins. For adjustable sights ramp up to Model 15 and Security Six. Unless you have commando-type fantasies or live on Kodiak Island they just make sense.

Then spend the rest of the money on training and ammo.

Besides someday someone else will own all those fancy guns. Better to get a few good honest ones and wear them out if possible.

Without a doubt under-rated, undervalued, under the radar, and IMO a "best buy" for anyone looking for a quality pistol at a reasonable price..... LIfetime warranty too..

My Bersa Thunder 9 (Ultra Compact) has been exceedingly accurate and 100% reliable from day one. Using iron sights my Bersa is actually easier to shoot accurately than my all time favorite Sig P239....

I think the BT9/UC listed for around $440 or so, but a local gun dealer special ordered it for me for $305 + tax. Very few local dealers carry any of the fine Bersa/Firestorm line of pistols with the exception of the Bersa Thunder 380..

I crack up when a gun dealer tells me he doesn't carry "foreign junk" when actually I think he is saying "I make more profit on higher end firearms"...

www.BersaTalk.com has approximately 750 happy Bersa/Firestorm owners and I'm certainly one of them.

The ONLY knock I've ever heard on Bersa/Firestorms is that extra magazines are pricy.. Yes they are. I bought a 13rd mag (pistol came w/one 10rd'er) and it was over $50. I found out later that on-line you can shop and get the same mag. for around $40.. Still high, but not excessively so.

I later put a CAT of Argentina ($129) on my BT9/UC and while it IMO moved the pistol out of a practical cc weapon it makes it the perfect home/vehicle choice. Fourteen rds. of Cor-bon works for me.

JMOFO :D

Denfoote: took 24 post to get a real pistol in the lineup. "KGB tested and approved!" "From Russia with love". I have both t-shirts! And an E.German Mak
More accurate than my G-19 and every bit as reliable. Able to eat that crappy lacquered ammo indefinitely. EXCELLENT CCW!!! Most people don't like 'em 'cause the can't pronounce maaa car ov correctly with the rolling R.
Unfortunately, the prices are going up. $200 a yr ago for the pristine E.G. piece.

BillCA: didn't know S&W made a pistol that actually worked! Just kidding, but have had 2 and didn't like either. Maybe the 3913's OK, too.

Had to stir things up! Later!

Panzermk2,

I only have experience with the new one. Granted, a heavy trigger pull BUT great sights, metal mags, good ergos, and mine now has about 4000 rounds through with NOT ONE problem.

VERY underrated IMO.

Cool I had heard that some of the minor issues had been fixed but I heard/read this in the gun rags and I like real world thoughts also

Hi-Power Second

I finally shot one last weekend, and liked it better than the Kimber Custom Target II I shot side by side with it. I've got one on reserve at a nearby shop now. It's done what no 1911 could do - get me to trade a Glock toward one to have it now rather than wait and save for an extra month. Between the 1911 JMB is a god vs the hi cap euro wonder nine's are the greatest thing "evah" debates the JMB designed, European made, hi cap P35 gets lost in the shuffle - Ironic.

The hi power. first wonder nine, to me the most ergo grips and controls ever. when fed ammo that it likes unbeliveably reliable. works when dirty, acurate as needed for its designed purpose.
