Rondog, Nice pic. That boy will remmember that always.

Last yr at OFASTS just like every yr, we rent our MG's out to folks, but whenever its a kid wanting to shoot i do it for free, ill charge the parents, but i find the biggest thrill of owning these things is not dumping a belt or mag threw them, but instead letting another person, ecspecially a kid shoot his/her first MG, theres no feeling like it, and theres no other smile like the smile of someone who just fired their first MG, pricelss!

Man that sounds awesome... im up for adoption... haha nah but really that sounds like alot of family fun!!! POST SOME PICS!!!

I agree that MP5s are a blast. There's a shooting range in Springfield, UT that rents guns, they've had several different full autos there. I've shot and Uzi, a Glock 18, a UMP, and an MP5. The only one I really didn't like was the Glock. I'm a Glock fan, but full auto pistols are more than I want to try to shoot.

Speaking of H&Ks though, I've seen several comments from people about how H&K hate us. Can you give me some info about this, or at least point me to a thread about it? I did use the search feature, but I didn't really want to scan through the 2816 threads it gave me about "H&K hates you."

Yeah, he had a good time! He got to shoot two MP5's, an AK47, an M2 Ma Deuce, a WWI mg (Maxim, I think), and two short-barreled 1919's in a twin mount. The Maxim was a freebie, the owner wasn't renting it, but he had the same attitude you do about letting kids shoot it! This was in Cheyenne Wells, CO.

Chriso, i have lots of pics, but not computer savy, dont know how unless it has the little "Browse" button.

Ron, He will always as long as he lives remmember and tell people about the day his grandpa took him to shoot his first MG. Good going!

My daughters have at the age 11 (the oldest) shot more rnds then i feel safe to say 98% of the people on this site have or ever will. We have put over 500,000 rnds threw just one of the beltfeds and the girls shot atleast 80% of that, plus everything else.

Between what ammo i buy, plus everytime we attend a shoot everyone just takes the "Cute little girls that love shootin" and take them down the line just passin them one gun after another letting them shoot, everyone loves it like i do it seems. That and everytime someone asks me if i want to try this or that i just pass the oppertunity to my daughters instead.

I have shot the G18, freind of mine has one, its fun but impracticle, the MP5 atleast serves some purpose.

I'm assuming that your wife's gun is actually held by a trust or LLC of which you are both trustees.... otherwise you would have been breaking the law having access to it without her being present, and I know you'd never admit to something like that on an open forum.

No its not a trust, or LLC. I also dont put much faith in you internet lawyers either. This is the first MG post i have made that someone didnt tell me MG's were illegal. So, dont worry about my guns, if what im doing is illegal, im not gonna broadcast it.

That or maybe one of the other ways to get it done. Trusts and LLCs are not the only way.

It is from a highly error filled blog posting. H&K does not "hate" us it was misconstrued that way by our legislators who banned them from import.

Because I don't have 15-20k, and if I did I don't think I'd spend it on a 9mm.

+1

even if it WAS legal for me to own, id rather spend that much money on something a bit heavier with phenomenal reach. or maybe a new truck. a real MP5 to me wouldnt be worth that price tag in my income bracket. also i do not desire the ATF tossing flashbangs into my house while im sleeping, im severely allergic.

ill stick with my GSG, almost the same thing but holy bejesus is it cheap to shoot

Ferraris are a blast too. Why doesn't everyone drive one?

Same idea. If I were to spend the money on a full auto the MP5 likely wouldn't be my choice anyhow. I would be interested in a semi at a reasonable price and of quality workmanship. Until then my GSG-5P (soon to be SBR) will satisfy my MP5 lusts.

I have my Vector Uzi and MP5k-PDWs, they're both fun but the Uzi hasn't seen jack for range time since getting the MP5.

Thankfully for me the old lady seems to prefer the Uzi.

I suppose it wouldn't be my first choice , but apparently it wasn't his(families') first choice, either. If I had anything approaching the kind of money they appear to have, I suppose I might end up with one. :)

When I was stationed in Germany in the mid 80's we trained with some West Germans. We switched rifles [M-16 for MP-5] and shot for awhile. We loaded our M-16 mags for them and they loaded their MP-5 mags for us. After everyone was done [after several mags each] and able to shoot most went on to do something else. Myself and a couple others asked if we could shoot the MP-5 some more. Not a problem but you have to load your own mags. Great I thought. So after loading a mag [I can't remember how much it held- 30 rds?] I went to the fireing line and zipped throught a mag in a few seconds. Went back to reload another mag then back to the fireline and zipped through another mag. Well this lasted about 6 more mags. That's when my hands-fingers were getting sore. Yep, we had to load one bullet at a time. That was the only bad part [if you could call it that]. That's my only expierance with them and man- o -man was it FUN.

my gsg-5 is as close as i will get,at least its fun to shoot & cheap on ammo...

This thread makes me want to cry. I would LOVE to have an opportunity to shoot half the stuff that some of you guys have. Amazing.

MP5's are a BLAST!, Why doesn't (dont) everyone own one?
(Grammar corrected)

I guess they're a good way to turn money into noise in a hurry. Most of the guys here are bitching all the time about the cost of ammo. I can't see how scattering hundreds of shots down range a minute aids your financial situation or shooting skills.

Shooting full auto is kinda like a thrill ride at the amusement park. It's really fun at first, but the luster dies down quickly.

I'd rather put the extra $$$ into a nice precision rifle or good shotgun, but maybe that's just me.

I'm much more impressed with someone that can hit a quarter every time at 200 yards or run a 100 at the Sporting Clays range. To each their own.

I do the long range gig too, have rem 700e NXS 5.5x22 and all the goodies, i shoot half mile with it. Actually i shoot the bolt guns more then anything else.

MG's are fun, and yes they can help improve your shooting skills

The thing is the owners of these guns aren't complaining about the ammo cost - it's always people who don't have them. Perhaps we find a value in it you don't, but it's easier to attack the straw man in the corner.

I don't see NFA owners showing up in 'I love my lever action' threads pissing on people - but the opposite seems to be true of any FA/NFA thread in existence.

As far as shooting skills, rapid fire shooting (including FA) is its own skill set. Having it does not preclude basic marksmanship, which is another classic straw man thrown at anyone who has a gun deemed unnecessary by the hunt-club masses. In practice, how is this argument any different than the anti-gunners babbling about 'firing from the hip' and the like?

I'd rather put the extra $$$ into a nice precision rifle or good shotgun, but maybe that's just me.

You assume everyone has your priorities. We don't.

I have precision rifles. I have several shotguns, even though I have zero interest in sport shooting with them. Paradoxically, I don't show up in the shotgun forum to dump on people who buy Perazzis.

I'm much more impressed with someone that can hit a quarter every time at 200 yards or run a 100 at the Sporting Clays range. To each their own.

That's the thing, NFA firearms ownership isn't about 'impressing' anyone.

We do it because we like it.

Rfurtkamp......Well said.

This is however one of the least troubled posts on MG's i have seen on this website.

Only one "Wannabe Lawyer" jumped in to set me straight on what he knows nothing of.

For the price of a AR15 you guys can get set up with a semi clone MP5 or other HK clones, its not the real thing but its close enough it dont matter. Buy enjoy and dont worry about what others think.

I have a Bobcat SBR,(but no happy switch). It is probably the single most "fun" gun I own. If I tell the kids we are going shooting, the first thing they ask is "are we taking the MP5?":)

I would love to get a registered sear pack. If I did my wife would most likely shoot me with it for spending that kind of money. On the other hand....I might be able to swing a suppressor for it.:D
