They aint that bad, you can get a good sear for $12-$13K, thats just a sear, no pack, no gun, just a 1 OZ peice of metal.

those prices are insane.
over here, a new AK74 goes for 1k, the same as production new Bulgarian Poly AK47's.
you do have to jump more legal hoops until you get permission to buy them, but once done, they are no more expensiv then regular firearms.

If the cost of a full auto was 1k it would be interesting to see how many of the full auto bashers would own one. I tend to think that a good portion of them would.
That said, the points they raise are legitimate answers to the question posed in the thread title. "Why don't we all own one?" Their answers might not be true of those who do own them or want to but that doesn't mean they aren't pertinent to the questioned asked.

Just back in 1993 and later yrs they were $350 peice, with $200 transfer tax

Don't listen to the naysayers. I wish I could afford just one! My brother just picked up a 1919 belt fed. I will get to give it a whirl next week. He tells me if I wouldn't buy so many guns I could afford one.
