I know a lot of you have had trouble with Wally World, but I decided to go check it out anyway. First off, I think we can all agree Walmart is dirty haha but when I got to their hunting area there were 2 employees there 1 knew what he was talking about, the other just like big boom guns made

Anywho to the awesome part, 15shell boxes of Winchester SuperX 12Ga. Rifled Slug for $8.97 a box and to top it off, no silly box limit in this Walmart! So I cleaned out the shelve of 8 boxes and checked out. :D

Good for you. I have trouble finding someone at our Walmart gun counter.

I can almost always find someone in our, but nobody ever seems to have the friggin' key for the ammo case. Yeah that is real safe. Keep a key, a single key for the case with the all dangerous handgun and rifle ammo, then make sure nobody anywhere has any idea where it is ever.

Course if you want 12 gauge slugs they are outside the case, except only in large boxes. Because everyone knows 12 gauge slugs are only dangerous when they are packaged in smaller boxes. lol.

OH, well, I noticed they tend to hang that key on their side of the support pole that has the phone.

I had a buddy who worked at the local walmart, he was a real gun nut, got written up by a newly promoted assistant manager, so her BF could get the spot.

Funny was he got written up for talking too much with the customers...
and this was the guy who sold the most guns, because the took the time to talk to the customers and point out what a deal they were getting, and he knew the local competition, why he actually made the gun counter feel like a real LGS, just missing the OK coffee.

Our Walmart doesn't even sell guns. It usually takes me an hour to get in and get out of a walmart when buying ammo, ESPECIALLY if it's handgun ammo. I had one guy look at my permit, then turn it over and looked at every handgun I owned, then commented on the fact that I was buying handgun ammo in a caliber that I didn't own a handgun in. He almost didn't sell it to me. Made me give him my license as well. Awesome...

I don't go my local Wal-Mart for firearms advice and I don't go my local gun shop for discount ammo. I know what each one is good at and there is where I go when I need what they have. I buy a lot of guns at gun shops and ammo at Wal-Mart. Usually a box or two of ammo goes along with the sale when I purchase one of those guns at the gun shop.

The day I let a Wal-Mart employee question why I'm purchasing ammunition... well actually the day I step foot in a Wal-Mart...hm,nevermind. Neither are going to happen.

I went to Walmart Monday just to see what ammo prices were like since I've read mixed things on here...They had WWB in the case and the sticker read $13.47. I asked the girl behind the counter if the price was correct. She said yes. I asked for 10 boxes. She went to ring it up and it rang up $22.47 a box. She had a confused/puzzled look and called her manager who approved the price change to $13.47 (note: I did not even say a word or ask, this was all done on her own after she rang up a box). If they had told me I couldn't buy it for that price I would have been ok with that, too. I work for a competitor and our policy is if there's more than 3 items behind the tag then the person who put it on the floor put it in the wrong spot and we'll honor the price within reason.

Needless to say, I was a happy customer and will probably go back there for ammo. Also picked up 4 boxes of the Remington Sluggers at $9/15.

I'm just happy to see a walmart thread that isn't about bashing them. Any place I can get socks, milk, and ammo at 3 am is just fine with me.

But, I wonder how long until the bashing starts.

And if you live in certain states you can get a gun to go with the ammo, and I don't go to walmart for gun advice, I go there to buy the same gun for $100 less

I've noted that Walmart gun counters are largely hit or miss.

I've been searching for my impossible to find rifle for a while and the one stated they didn't do special order firearms due to "updating fbi databases" (lol?) the other didn't have a catalog and the third had this awesome old guy and lady manning the counter who knew their stuff. This is AZ btw, so none of them should have had a problem with this.

I thought it was kind of funny that the 16-year-old girl at the checkout was asking me if the box of .22lr I was purchasing was "for a rifle or a pistol?" Well, if you're going to inconvenience me like the pistol licensing process in NY, then "It's for a rifle."

Haha, another time, my buddy dropped his bag and out spilled a bunch of shotgun shells. The store greeter called for a manager because she could not identify 25 individual items listed on the store receipt. They do have good prices though!

I but the Federal Champion ammo at my walmart, it's cheaper than the WWB and I've had less problems with it than the Winchester, but since their last price hike I can now buy Blazer brass ammo at a local sporting goods store on perpetual sale for less than what Walmart wants so haven't bought anything from them in a while as far as ammo. They were a few cents cheaper on the 9mm and .40 Federal, but they can't beat 9.97 for 9mm and 13.47 for .40

Gosh, no joke. I am DONE with the wal mart gun counter. DONE I say. If someone is there, I'll sometimes ask to see a gun just to take up their time and punish them for all the times they WEREN'T there, and to remind them that there is interest in firearms. Wal mart = the brady campaign. I've moved most of my shopping to more pro 2nd amendment businesses.

When I buy ammo at my Wal-Mart it is like buying a bag of chips. Not a second glance. Surprises me so many people have trouble.

I think a lot depends on your location. Suburban Long Island has completely eliminated guns and ammo. I was surprised to see this summer that a Walmart in upstate NY, that used to have a great gun selection now only sells ammo and accessories.

cant buy ammo after 9 pm or before 8 am at the local walmart here in pa. sporting goods section is just 1 aisle

Good for you. I have trouble finding someone at our Walmart gun counter.

I've learned to walk to the front counter as soon as I walk in, ask for assistance in the sporting goods/hunting section, then walk back there. Most of the time I still beat them to the counter.

my dealings with walmart are neither positive or negative. they are neither prompt at the gun counter nor are they slow enough to make me want to leave.

glad that you had a great experience. i hope they keep it up for you!

Kinda still on topic, through an undisclosed grapevine I found out that Super Targets (yes they exsist) are going to carry guns and ammo again!!! I don't know about you, but ive always thought TGT had better customer service than walmart lol
