My Lessons Learned Today at the Range

The houge handall jr fits the LCP just fine with a little trimming on the bottom. Between that and the finger extension magazine it is serveral times easier to hold while firing. I'm now capable of 6" groups at 15 yards with it.

A response to JimK...
Jim,
Let me repeat myself....DO NOT Use snap caps for dry practice..!! They do not serve any useful purpose in dry practice sessions. Let me ask you a question. Why does one need to dry practice with an LCP or a Keltec when they are little more than a "contact weapon"...Oh, Ruger and Keltec may be perfectly justifyed in advising about dry practicing with their little guns..!! Too much of a good thing and they probably will breakdown..!! As one poster said and I will second...neither weapon is very effective beyond 20+ meters and beyond that...one is better served to "beat a hasty retreat". Get my point, Jim.
What is this about clothing..?? If a CCW permit holder is going to wear a holster or clothing that intentionally shows or "prints" his weapon while carrying...he deserves to be stopped and handed a summons. All that you said does not make awhole lot sense. Regarding the weapon..again, Jim, my point was, simply carry a 4" s/a auto of sufficient stopping power and caliber and TRAIN WITH IT..!! These "mouse guns" being discussed on this thread right now have limited range, horsepower and present a myriad of compromises to deal with. When a threat presents itself... the potential victim does not always get to pick the hour, temperature, distance from the threat or amount of daylight. One needs to carry the biggest, baddest and most portable weapon he can safely and comfortably carry....anything will not serve him well..!!

Thank you all

Thank you all for your input, I knew I could get a solid answer from me fellow High Roadies. I actually picked up a Hogue Grip tonight, as one of you suggested. I found that the finger grooves help alot in the presentation of the gun, and the rubber keeps it from sliding when firing (tried with snap caps). I am going to look for the grip extensions this weekend, and practice, practice, practice. Again, thank you all for chiming in, I think you all found me a way to keep my LCP. :D

Just as a note, while many weapons may be dry fired with impunity, the LCP and P3AT are not counted amongst them. These weapons cannot be dry fired without incremental damage and must be used with snap caps if you wish to dry fire.

For those that believe a "mouse" gun is ineffective..... A local off duty police officer,
breaking up a domestic squabble, was shot once in the chest with a .380 and was
killed instantly.

Please post a link to the news story, preferably from a reputable agency

not jumping on you, but some:rolleyes: will take offense.

The KT forum suggest bicycle inner tubes for providing a no slip surface.

XL hands and a small gun don't always mix but with 1200+ rounds thru my CCW and I am very confident I'll hit what I aim at. This is a point and shoot gun, not a target match session. It has the Pachmayr sleeve and finger extensions. Helps a ton! If you will carry it you better be comfortable with it. I love this tiny little gun and trust my life to it every day.

I added a handal jr grip and Bersa mag bottom to my P3AT and it makes a lot of difference. I usually practice at 15 yrds and have no problem wirh hitting where I am aiming. I have tried it at 25 yrds and got about a 14 inch group if you can call that a group.

If you like the LCP practice with it 25 rounds a session. Don't keep shooting after your hand gets tired. Also if the LCP is like the P3AT 50 rounds will leave the web between your thumb and hand sore.

Update

I tried it at the range today with the grip, and was grouping them all in a 4x2" rectangle at about 20 feet. Yes, I know that is short, but for my purposes it is about as far as I would take it. I was very pleased. I also shot it first, before the .40's today, so my arm was fresh and had no fatigue issues. All in all it now works just like I want it to! :D

On the LCP forums, the GURUs and posters there all state that Wolff sells a recoil spring set for the Kel Tec .380 and that the 13# set keeps the spent casings closer (for reloading) and it reduces the felt recoil, reduces the frame battering and eliminates any feeding issues (if you have any). There were more than a few who have tried and swear this is fact. I am ordering a set to see for myself. I have not changed my springs yet (1200+ rounds) but I've had no reason to (no failures to feed or return to battery) but I'm sure it's only a matter of time. Yes, the Kel Tec .380 springs work in the LCP just fine according to the many posters who have tried it. To me it's worth the $10 or so (with shipping) to try it.
