It's the best .357 snub I think exists, but I'm not so sure it's better for concealed carry over a .327 LCRx. For an extra 18 ounces all you get is one extra round. Not sure that's a good trade off.

If you have to have the most rounds you can get in a revolver that you can reasonably carry, then yes, it's a great choice because it beats the Redhawk in size and the S&W 686 Plus in price.

7E687B7A-E394-40DE-8A1A-C959C9EC2861.jpeg I’ve been shooting a 3” GP100 for two years. It is a fantastic revolver, and it’s trigger is at least the equal of my well worn Model 15.
It often gets the nod for home defense, and sometimes goes CCW.
For general purposes, it really likes the American Eagle 158gn JSP. Right now, it’s loaded with 145gn Silvertip.
As I’ve said before, if I can see something, I can hit it...out to 100yds.

Nice gun. I think the compact grips are just about perfect for these, I put some Chig's on mine as well. Black locust if I recall. I would like a better front sight but prefer to keep the rear low profile. Unfortunately I'm not as thrilled about the trigger as some of you.

Get these installed and you will never look back, makes it as smooth as butter equal to any Smith IMO
Wolff REDUCED TRIGGER PULL SPRING KIT for Ruger GP-100 GP100 Match Champ W17110 | eBay

Um, reducing spring weights do not make a revolver as smooth as butter. They only reduce the pull weight slightly. To make a DA revolver "smooth as butter" takes quite a bit more work than dropping in a spring kit, trust me.

Spring kits do NOT make a Ruger either as smooth as butter or equal to any Smith.
Ruger triggers can be cleaned up substantially, but springs alone don't do it. :)

My 2.5 7-banger GP is my favorite snub.
Bowen sights, Chig's inserts on compact grip.
Not bad from the factory, one of these days I'll get an action job done on it.
Springs, however, will remain factory. I want guaranteed ignition & don't mind staying with heavy, as long as it's smooth.

When I was looking at getting a GP100, I read over and over again about their bad triggers. I even studied up on home trigger jobs, polishing, shims, etc.
What a surprise to find the excellent trigger I got.

Loves me sum Ruger revolvers!

Never really gelled with their autos though.....

Same here. Have yet to have a Ruger revolver I didn't like but never cared for any of their P series semi-autos. Finally found one that checked off all of the boxes in the form of the SR9c.

Yes- when you add "and tune the action", they CAN be smooth.
You didn't mention the tuning to begin with. :)
Ruger GP triggers can be improved substantially, WITH tuning.
Denis

I love Rugers and own a bunch of them but a Ruger DA trigger will never be as good as a S&W. Even if the Ruger has extensive tuning work done. The geometry of the moving parts is completely different, the hammer's arc (how far it moves) is different and the trigger return spring" has to be close to factory poower because it holds the trigger group into the frame. Rugers can be made very serviceable but they will never approach the sophistication of the mechanism of the S&W.
