19 guns

Heck, you aren't even a redneck till you get to 40 Plus.:neener: I passed redneck status long ago.

My wife just walked in on me while I was talking to my "gun guy" and telling him that I wanted another gun and to see if he can find it tomorrow. She just walked in, cut her eyes at me and said "Are you really fixin to buy another gun?"

I just smiled and said "Well maybe"

Im glad my other half has decided that she wants to own just as many guns as I do. That means another gun safe eventually and a dozen or so mixed firearms.

Not having a problem with about 180 Czech’s here http://www.thehighroad.org/showthread.php?t=588822 and then there are all the other makes as well. Really don’t know how many I have but it appears a couple more than most.

I certainly don’t think I have a collection yet but hope to one day. Perhaps we could start one together sometime?

I was thinking about this today. The sign I've got "enough guns" is when I can't remember anything about how I came to own some of my older firearms.

It's frustrating.

Man, I expected this thread to be dead a long time ago.

I intend to get at least a Ruger MK3 pistol for plinking before I give up the good fight...I love all of my cheap guns but I'd like a full sized .22 pistol to just bang away with. I'd also like a nice scoped rifle as I don't own a gun with a scope at all.

Me and my woman (wife as of the 23rd, 5 years together!) have come to an agreement as suggested by quite a few people who commented on this, I spend and then she spends. We split it up and when we have some money left over after paying bills and such we get to spend it on what we wish. She gets things she likes and then I get things I like. So far it has worked well.

Thanks for the advice guys, I barely noticed that this thread was still running because I've been busy with work but I appreciate all the opinions. Anyone who hasn't commented can still chime in of course or if anyone has anything to add even if they've already commented, feel free to add whatever you like.

Glad to hear I'm not the only one who has been in this situation. :D

I have promised my wife that I will stop buying guns when I find my favorite. Still haven't found it...

A while ago I came home and told my wife about a nice pair of Winchesters
NIB M 94's NRA 100 year rifle and musket.
I said I was thinking of buying one.
Her reply was "What about two."
What else can I say?
She loves her guns. She is not as enthusiastic on holsters though. I am working on that at this time though. The Simply Rugged with the Celtic Knot impressed her. They do some fine work.
Always remember this. Guns are an investment and will gain in value.
What will the notes in your wallet be worth in ten years? I think of the ones which I have gotten rid of like the S&W M 10 HB like new $125 [1980] and the multiple Ruger Standard autos for about the same price. Even the $50 Jennings are worth $150+ now.
So lets save some money now and buy another quality gun. After all they don't eat or snore but just sit there and look good.
Art has always been a great investment.
Buy American and stimulate our economy please.

You are in short supply of S&W revolvers, You have to have one of every frame size to even think you have to many firearms.
And not one lever action, How can this be?
I could go on , But why.

I dont have as many as I had in the early 80's. And I have more than I did in the late 90's. But I dont have all that I want.

My wife dont mind at all as long as buying dont interfere with the family bills and such. So I do lots of looking and buy when I can .

I don't think my S.O. would even notice until I got to the point where I said that I needed to buy another gun safe... There's enough in there that adding one here and there just doesn't get noticed... Besides, she's got more shoes that I have guns anyway... As long as she can go to the gun safe and get some cash when she needs it, she won't notice it...

I use to have many more guns than I do now, mainly lower dollar guns and no rhyme nor reason to my collection, so many they wouldn't all fit in my first safe-a good rule of thumb is to figure they will only hold 1/2 the advertised capacity. I also didn't have more than a box two of ammo for most any gun. I got my first really nice gun, an S&W 41 and started getting a yen for those nicer guns. Being cash short, I started selling & trading moving down in number and up in quality, everything fit in my safe and I had more fun shooting.

Nowadays I have taken a liking to working guns, AR's, Glocks, Ruger DA's and a smattering of others, and every gun I own is very good quality and is shot often. I am well stocked with ammo for all as I've also consolidated calibers. I have a purpose for all guns owned and only one safe queen remains, an FA 83 .475 that I wanted ever since Ross Seyfried first wrote about it.

Personally I've found the enjoyment I get from owning guns isn't about the quantity owned but the usefullness and utility I get from them. YMMV

You've got a good point about the advertised vs realistic capacity of gun safes... I think when they are laying out the slots for the rifles / shotguns that all of them are the size of single shot H&R .410 shotguns. The front row for rifles / shotguns in my safe is basically useless since the magazines stick out far enough that the door would hit them.

Of course the barrel rest is too high if you have the collapsible stock on your M4 shortened to its max (as you might want if you wanted it for a home defense situation). The height of my barrel rests is just slightly less than the length of a Mini-14 or a Marlin 1895GS.

"and besides, how many shoes does she have?" -generic poster
How many of her shoes cost hundreds or even thousands of dollars and have to be fed even more money just to use?

That is ok! What's the net value of that collection. Some have 1 gun worth way more than all of those put together.
