I have enough...

I certainly have all I NEED. Before I quit I would like a nice S&W 38/357. Other than that, I collect components for reloading, reload for each firearm's accuracy, and get each shooter sighted in complete with all accessories including scopes, cases, etc. There never really is an end to it is there? It will all go to my two kids anyway. I just turned 60 and ask my wife what she is going to do with all of this stuff someday!

Have plenty of guns, ammo, and reloading components. Still there's always something out there that piques my interest; be it old or new. Keeps me going and is pretty much the same reason I come here to THR.

There's a few more I would like to have---but there isn't the intense all or nothing gotta have it desire---I'll get them eventually, maybe tomorrow, maybe five years from now.

Now if I could find some .22 ammo

As someone pointed out up thread, I’m more interested in getting magazines and ammunition for the guns that I have right now than acquiring more. I’d rather have one gun and ten magazines than ten guns with one magazine each.

I've had "enough" for a long time but there is still new stuff coming out that I'd like to try. About out of storage space so it'll soon be trading time, which will be difficult to decide what to give in order to up to make room. A very large part of my collection is sub-compacts & J-frames, so they don't take a lot of space -- I just love guns that are small for their caliber. Lots of new ones I'd be interested in Sheild, XDs, Nano, Pico, to name a few off the top of my head.

I'd stocked up on ammo and reloading components going in to retirement so I'm OK there, although I never anticipated .22lr being hard to replace, down to my last ~15K :(

+1 on reaching the "trading" point.

My gun safe got full, I quit buying.

If I want a new gun, I have to sell / trade one or two to make it happen.

I'm really close I have a Springfield EMP on order and I want to find a model 12 to make into a trench gun. Then I'm going to try to focus on some other projects within the collection like putting a repo Lyman M21 sight on my repo 1895 and of course there's always load developement and shooting skill to work on.

I have all I need as well. Rifles to hunt with, shotguns to defend home with and handguns to defend me when its hard to conceal the shotgun. That doesn't mean I have all I want though :D

I have actually sold more firearms than bought in the last year. And minus a few notable exceptions, haven't missed the ones I have sold.

I have more than I can shoot, swear I'm going to pare down the numbers, but end up buying more. It's a sickness.

I hit that ceiling many years ago. The last gun I bought was in 2005, A kimber Warrior to carry on duty since I was working for a dept that allowed carry of a 1911. It had been at least five years before that since i purchased a new gun.

Now I am building decent ARs so that I have enough to leave one to all of my grandchildren. I had six of my own, but now I have seven grandchildren so I need to build at least one more so they all get one on my passing.

They really haven't come out with anything that I looked at and just had to have in years.

Same here. The obsession to amass more and more piles of stuff has left the building. This means guns, guitars, pretty much everything.

I have learned to be content and sure with what I already have.

It matters not if I have enough guns, it is my wife who continues to buy. We have been married 53 years, and she has many more guns than I do. (I know, community property el al) She is no dummy when it comes to buying guns which will give a good return if sold. She considers guns the same as a stock market 401k, buy's them low so she can sell them high if the need should arise

Kids say if I die first, the gun auction sites will come to know her name very well..

I really only have two more that I want. I want a Colt 6920 and a Remington 700 SPS tactical in .308. I am considering selling a firearm to purchase either the Colt or the Remington. I am focusing more on accessories right now and components, however.

I'm about at the same point. I have firearm skills, and now I'm thinking more about moving toward emergency medical training, to be prepared to save a life. I've spent plenty on weapons and practice, it makes sense to have the skills to give emergency trauma assistance, enough to stabilize a wounded person long enough for professionals to arrive.

I have reached the same point. Don't need any more guns. Don't want a better mousetrap. Time for me to focus on shooting and learning about my guns

I've also reached my limit. I'm getting close to retiring and want to keep what I shoot the best and sell the rest. I have my needs filled but have multiple guns for specific needs.... that needs to change. I've always felt that if I haven't shot a gun in 2 years then it needs a new, loving home.

There are still some guns I wish to buy but to buy one I now sell 2 with one being the one the new gun replaces (CCW 9mm, pocket pistol, .45ACP target, etc). I reload and have almost enough components to last quite a few years but will pick up some more when the prices stabilize and they become more available.

I want to become proficient with every gun I own when I'm done paring them down. I want to go from being a good shot to a great shot with each one. I don't have any with special memories so each one I keep will be because it works for me in some way. It will fit my hand, point naturally and be accurate in my hand without trying. Then I'll hone those skills even more. I won't care if I paid $150 for it or $850. I won't keep it because it's quirky or because I "stole it". That was the fun part of collecting them. Now is the time to get serious and keep the ones that matter and sell the ones that are just guns and nothing more. It's time to enjoy them like never before and I can't do that with guns I just don't shoot any more. Someone else will appreciate them more than I do. They deserve to be wanted and loved.

I feel like the buying thing has gotten the best of me. I'm not a hunter but like to shoot at paper, and want to build the skills and competencies to know I can defend family and home if need be.
But I've gone from one handgun 5 years back to about 15 handguns and long guns. Perhaps below average compared to the THR owner, it's a far larger number than I ever could have imagined. But in fact, though I've been trying to convince myself to stop the gun buying I ordered a 10/22 this weekend.
In reality, during this lull between saddening and irrational shooting incidents, at schools, theaters and such, it is a good time to be consistently buying modest amounts of ammunition. Sort of dollar-cost averaging in. Though prices have not fully returned to prior levels, they likely never will and thus this is the new normal. But other insane events will trigger price changes (and perhaps legislation changes) again so I try to justify my acts by considering this period to be a 'limited time offer'.

I have all my bases covered but do not think I have all I want or need. I have my 5.56, 7.62 pistol and hunting rifle. I have a gap for new defensive and hunting shotguns, a new carry pistol, and maybe a 7.62 AR style rifle. But other than that I am sitting pretty.

My focus right now is ammo. I reload pretty much everything I shoot but components are running very short. I just killed my 8lbs 5.56 powder last night. What is in the powder hopper is what I have. :(

Things have changed

For decades I thought a 12 guage, 38 J Frame, 22 single six and bolt action rifle was enough. (Not much evidence of the hunter gene there). But in recent years that all changed.
Getting to know the new guns and target time at a nearby free shooting range rekindled my interest in shooting and reloading.
What changed? Guess I am just getting old and want to have more fun and some cheap thrills. Or maybe there is some other reason.
