NAA Mini Revolver - Accuracy

finallly got to try my little 1 1/8 inch barrel NAA Mini Revovler. Have .22 and .22Mag cylinders, but forgot the Mag cylider, but got to make it go bang a few times. With the .22LR cylinder, at about 30 feet I was hitting about 4 or 6 inchest consistently to the left. I was shotting some remington thunderbolt ammunition and didn't really have time to try anything else. so, pretty cheap ammunition, but it want bang and was consistent.

I wondered if the .22 Mag cylinder would produce similar accuracy, but forgot the cylinder to test it. Think I'll have to test it out again and try some more things. I was wondering if since it is designed for .22 Mag and the .22 LR cylinder is a conversion, maybe the Mag will produce a better POI to POA, but not sure yet.

Anyone have any experience with conversion cylinders and accuracy they can share? In retrospect I wish I had taken a bit more time to do additional tests, but it was the first time out with it.

I have no experience with NAA revolvers, but I do with .22LR / .22 Magnum convertibles. In the ones I have owned and others I have fired the .22 Magnums were / are more accurate. I was told that this is because the barrel is cut for a .224” projectile, which the .22 magnum is vs .223, which the .22 Long Rifle is spec’d to.

I have never measured the bores but in my experience it makes sense.

The first time I ever shot my NAA Black Widow, I didn't see much difference.

It could also very well be, my not being used to a small snub nose revolver, and I'm yanking it a hair when I pull the trigger, so - a lot of variables in play.

My NAA Pug shoots the same with the .22 WMR cylinder as it does with the .22 LR cylinder, at least at ranges up to 5 yards. Beyond that my accuracy with such a little revolver degrades rapidly, regardless of which cylinder I’m using. My Pug originally shot left. I sent it in to NAA and they replaced the rear sight and drifted both of them properly so POA and POI were in close agreement. If you have a blade sight, that’s harder to fix - you can bend it a tiny little bit but it’s very easy to break off the blade (ask me how I know).

I shot a fist size group center mass with 22lr at 7 yards and was impressed, using mini mags. I switched cylinders to 22 mag, and the results were not that great at all. I was all over the target. The recoil from the 22 mag made a lot of difference in my accuracy.

I have the flip out grip - and honestly, think it feels pretty good for a grip. The NAA I have has no rear sight, just the front blade, so - it felt a bit alkward to say the least, but - it did seem to work pretty good, and went bang, which is what I wanted to test really first time out of the gate. Totally need to get back out and not forget the other cylinder this time. Also, now thinking about it - it is probably just me. The first couple shots were a foot or more to the left, and when I started to focus more, it was consistenly 4-6 inchest the left at 30 feet. That is a guestimate as I was shooting at cans on a log spaced about 4 inches apart, and kept hitting the one to the left of what I was aiming at. Not thinking much more - the POI vs. POA I experienced was just me, grip, stance, something - more likely me than anything else, but exited to get back out and work with it a little more for sure. Does seem very solid, mechanics seem really strong, such a small little thing, but really seems made like a little mini tank - and it fits in the watch pocket in a pair of jeans.

I usually shoot my Black Widow Mag at 10-15yd and center of mass is easy. I really have to concentrate on linear trigger press or it will pull, but I love the little blaster.

Same as above. It's tough to get a perfect trigger press on the mini. With the short barrel any error in the press really does show up.
For me going to the Black Widow grip helped immensely compared to the little bird head grip.
I usually shoot it better one handed.

my naa survival bugout 22lr is good enough at last-ditch, self-defense distances: at 10’ get 5” groups of 5 round ammo dumps. i get the same 5” groups at 20’ if i take my time but this isn’t the naa’s purpose. adding cv revision grips is key.

worked with this again a bit yesterday. side to side pretty much have it worked out, vertically a bit all over the place, not quite sure how much of the front sight to have visible and how to get a sight picture that works (might have to revert to looking at the manual again ... lol), but - for the most part 4-6" at 25 feet, which is probably better than needed with this thing, but - now it is a challenge to try to get good with it, and an excuse to practice more. Did put a cylinder of Magnum through it, seemed about the same accuracy wise, and any issues with accuracy I'm willing to bet are operator error. So, good test functions fine.

I tried using one a few years ago but my hands are just too large and I found I could not manipulate the tiny gun well if at all.

I had one too. I found it would shoot pretty good if you did your part perfectly.
It is so tiny that it's just hard to shoot.
I was getting consistent hits on liter bottle sized targets at 7yds.

had this revolver in my pocket today and as I bent over to pick something off the floor, the zipper on my coat did not close correctly, and the revolver fell out on the concrete floor. looks like it landed and dented the front of the muzzle. Not sure if that will affect accuracy, but it might I'll have to look at it closer when I am calmer and not as mad at myslef for dropping it.

Was at the range the other day. Shot 25 22mags. Was easily hitting 12" steel at six yards. Fifty fifty at eleven yards.

On paper at five yards, my group was about five inches going at about one per second.

This is a Bug Out II with a BW grip.

It was a heck of a lot easier on my hand than the LCP Max I brought along but I was much much faster and more accurate with the Max. No surprises there.

My .22wmr NAA revolver always shot quite decent groups at 25 yards. I couldn't keep my .22lr NAA revolver on the paper at 15 yards. I added the slip on rubber grip to the .22lr NAA revolver and it shoots almost as good as my .22wmr NAA revolver now.

There is a fair bit of sifference in the size of the .22wmr and the .22lr and I find the extra size works so much better for mr XL hands. The minimal sights on both of them line up quite well with the poi on both guns for me.

I have three of the Mini's, all of them are 22mag. One is a PUG, and had Big Dot sights on it, the others, just the front blade.

They all shoot pretty well for what they are, although I dont see them being much more than a close range, contact type gun, and the sights really aren't that critical.

Ive found that the guns with the blade type front sight, really have no rear sight index, and if you try to use the guns frame for that, the gun shoots way low. I just use the front sight as a horizontal alignment and sight across the top of the frame for vertical. That seems to get me real close.

The Big Dots work and shoot more like a traditional set of sights.

The PUG came with a rubber Houge grip on it, and that makes a big difference in how the guns handle and shoot. I put one of those on each of the others, and have had a much better experience with them.

I shot this at about 5 yards. I really wasnt "aiming", more like pointing, and just popping them off as quick as I could thumb the hammer.



I picked all these guns up used, and a couple of them came with ammo. Everything but the Remingtons shot well, and I settled on the 40gr Gold Dots for use in them.

NAAs are neat little guns. I think they take a lot of practice though.

I've got a Black Widow. I'm impressed with the accuracy. Like trackskippy has pictured, I have noticed occasional keyholes. I don't think I've tried Remington ammunition.

They are very cool little revolvers and I wanted one ever since I was a kid.

Recently the LGS had three of them for sale, all used, and I could have my pick for $160.

I bought what seemed like the best of the three, just as a novelty item.

It seems to be well-made. The parts fit well, it goes bang every time, etc.

Unfortunately, like Dframe, I have very large hands. My hand and fingers are so convoluted when I'm trying to shoot the NAA that the best I can do is keep all five shots on the 12" by 12" paper at seven yards.

I'm going to keep it, though. Everyone who sees it seems to want to shoot it. They all seem to have fun with it, whether they hit anything with it or not, so I've been bringing it along if I'm going to the range with a friend. No one has managed to resist it yet.

My friend and I went shooting with all four of our daughters a couple of months back (aged 17-22). IIRC, two of the girls could make a softball-sized group at seven yards regularly, so the little thing does have some inherent accuracy if your hands fit it properly.

Yeh, that, a crappy 10# trigger, and there is nothing to hold onto...
My mini is 22LR and it key holes with most types of ammo.
I'm OK with that because it's only going to be used at bad breath range anyways...

That ammo shoots very well in my Zastava rifle. I don't have a short barrel NAA to compare to, though.

I do know from my old NAA Guardian, that the rifling in that gun was extremely shallow compared to my other two .32 ACP pistols.

The only ammo Ive had any trouble with, with the Minis, was that box of Remington. Ive shot a number of different brands and loads now with them all, and Remington was the only one to keyhole.

When I miked the others bullets, they all seemed to come out at 0.223 or so. The Remingtons were definitely undersized in comparison. I dont know if its just a bad batch of ammo or not. Im not a big fan of most things Remington, and thats across the board, not just with their ammo/components. This didnt help to change that.

The rifling on the three guns I have does look a little shallow, but it doesnt seem to be a problem. They all shoot well.

I wonder sometimes if that ammo was all whoever had the gun prior to me, was shooting out of it and they thought the gun was crap.
