Hello all,

I am interested in getting people's take on the rifling of NAA mini revolvers. I took a look at one recently… while the rifling was visible, it was very indistinct and shallow. Further, the lands did not have sharp shoulders…

Can anyone confirm this is status quo for these guns?

Thanks

Mine are slight also. I've had several in 22LR and Mag. They all were average in accuracy Except one. A, 2" BlackWidow. I could hit shotgun shells with it at 10yds. The rest were dinner plate size.:p Stay Safe.

I was told by NAA the smaller & cheaper guns use cast barrels, including the rifling.
The bigger & more expensive rimfire models (Black Widow, etc.) use conventionally rifled barrels.
From several I've tested over the years, that's consistent with what I've seen.
Accuracy is not a priority with the smaller ones, I've seen one with the bore off center to the barrel. Still did what it was built to do- put out lead at close distances.

I can hit a pie plate at 25 yards with mine, somewhere on it five out of five, so it seems to work. It is no target gun, for sure, but then it has more handicaps than shallow rifling. I think the rifling works fine, I just can't shoot a gun with a little over an inch of sight radius any better. The trigger's a little weird, too, but I'm sort of used to that.

NOW you tell me! That might explain why I can hit the broad side of a barn...if I am standing right next to it...

It's ok with the 22mags but the 22lr good luck and I have the "long barrel" 1 7/8" lol. At 7 yards I am lucky to hit a man sized target ANYWHERE on the paper. And it's totally random.

With the 22wmr I can at least keep them into a 18" grouping

Mine ain't that inaccurate. I'm wondering, it's over 20 years old now, did they used to cut the rifling in the little guns? Mine is most DEFINITELY ammo specific, though. It seems to like Federal Lightening, but not so much CCI mini mag and don't even TRY to shoot stinger in it, won't hit the barn if you're standing inside it. It's pretty accurate with Federal, though, enough so that I've head shot snakes at 10 ft with it, shot rabbits at 15 yards with it, that sort of thing. It's the gun I always seemed to have on me when I needed a gun and it's accurate enough to do many jobs for me other than as contact weapon in self defense.

The bore and rifling are not cast to size.

Just a note: I took a close look at a .22 Long Rifle NAA Mini Revolver last night. There are tool marks in the bore. The forcing cone is also machined, as there is a lot of tool marks there as well.

After cleaning, the rifling was more distinct. However, it is very shallow in this gun too.

I've never owned a black Widow or a mini master though I'd like to. On my cheaper .22lr and .22mag models the bullets to tend to keyhole sometimes.

I had a 22lr and now have a Black Widow. The Bw is in 22mag and of the bench will shoot into 6" at 25 yards. The 22lr was OK for 7 yards but I could not line up the sights or get a good hold on the little gun to really tell how accurate it was as I could not shoot it accurately ( was OK for what it was designed for). They were not made as a target gun and I like the BW as a pocket gun when every thing else is too big to conceal. :) Bill
