I have a Sig P250 that I really like, fits my hand great, very accurate, super-reliable. Problem is the trigger. While smooth as glass, it's also very loooong. The P250 is DAO and the reset is just too far for me to get used to. I've had a lifetime of DA/SA guns. When trying to do double-taps, I often don't let the trigger out far enough to reset and nothing happens on the second trigger pull. So, need some suggestions of what to look at. Here's what I'd like and what I've come up withi so far: I'd like 9mm, poly framed, preferably all black, compact or sub-compact as long as there's a pinky rest on the mag base plate. I'd prefer da/sa but will consider another dao as long as it's not as long as the P250.
Glock: don't point naturally for me, just don't fit my hand.
XD9: Fit's better than the Glock, just not perfect. I hate the grip safety.
Kel-Tec: forget it. I have the P32, one's enough.
CZ: RamiP, had one, grips too small. Maybe something slightly larger ?
Ruger: SR9c looks nice, fits my hand pretty well, but hearing all kinds of horror stories about them. Do they have reliability issues?
S&W M&P: M&P9c is an option if I could find one. Any good? Anyone?
Kahr: maybe a used one. Any issues with Kahr's?
S&W Sigma: I'd consider one of these IF I could do a trigger job on it. Ghost or anyone improving Sigma triggers? The stock Sigma trigger is horrible.
Stoeger Cougar: had one, loved it, awesome home gun but too heavy for carry.
Taurus: Never again, don't even mention it.
H&K: I don't want to have to sell a kidney to buy a gun, too expensive.
Skyy/Jericho/Hi-Point: Don't bother.
Did I miss any? Does anyone have some positive feedback on one or another? Or on a model I missed? I used to have a Ruger P345, nice .45cal., but a little big, I was hoping the SR9's would be as reliable.

What say you all.

Hmm, inside your list of requirements, CZ does make the P07, which MIGHT be a bit big, but has some nice features, like switchable to decocker or standard safety by the user, Omega trigger. etc.
Must be poly? If you could consider alloy frame I'd highly reccomend the CZ PCR, or the P01 if you want a rail.
Good luck with the hunt!

M&P with an Apex carry kit to provide a more positive reset. You can get in on the rebate right now ($50 or 2 free mags). It comes with one flat base mag and one with the requisite pinky rest.

Might want to look at the 40 S&W as you can purchase a Storm Lake conversion barrel for $150 and have 2 calibers for around $700. You'll need 9mm mags but you could use the rebate and get them ahead of time.

Bought a used 9c for the wife, we both like shooting it.

S&W M&P: M&P9c is an option if I could find one. Any good? Anyone?
I can unreservedly recommend this one. I also endorse the Glock, but if it doesn't fit your hand or point well for you, I will not quarrel with it. The Kahr, having a long trigger stroke with no discernible letoff (this is by design) will probably not work well for you if you don't like the P250.

HK P2000SK

Costs the same as that CZ P01 plus one night out on the town. So stay in one night and get yourself the finest poly compact 9mm on the market. You're worth it.

Have you looked at the Beretta PX4 compact and the ultra slim Walther PPS?

You can check out the Gen4 Glock 19 and see if it feels better with the smallest backstrap. I recommend either that or the H&K P2000. Sure the H&K is a little on the pricier side, but c'mon, if you actually shoot the thing more than once a month, the initial cost of the handgun is the cheapest part of gun ownership. The cost of ammo will so overshadow the cost of the gun that the $300 price difference will feel like pennies.

I love the enthusiasm of Glock owners. :D
Can you recommend a nice rifle, shotgun, revolver......"Glock."

A Kahr P9 and CW9 are nice and fit the requirements but they have a pretty long but very silky smooth DA/SA. So the Kahrs are pretty much out all together.

Don't forget the Walther P99C - lighter than the C version of the 9mm M&P, and able to take 15 round full size magazines in addition to the 10 round ones. I have one and like it a lot.

The PPS is a hell of a nice carry pistol, too, and magazines of various lengths are available for it.

Really a Glock 19 is a sweet gun. If its a glamor contest go for something else. Glock 19 is small enough, high capacity, super durable, accurate, and priced decently enough. There are others of course but I do not think you could go wrong with a 19. Oh and takes all the other glock 9mm mags except the 26 of course up to 33 rounders if so desired.

M&P 9c. For me it's hands down the best pistol I've ever owned. No issues whatsoever, POA accurate right out of the box. I have large hands and it was nice to have the different backstraps for fit. Easy breakdown for cleaning and a variety of holster choices.

Glock: don't point naturally for me, just don't fit my hand.

Get a Glock 17, cut the handle to 19 length, or even 26 length, sand off the finger grooves, and stipple it to your liking with a soldering iron. Or if you live in S. Fla I'll give you the name of a smith who can do it for you. Shortening the handle removes most of that ridiculous backstrap that glocks have.

Or get something that doesn't require extensive re-working/smithing to fit you. :) That's a gun with "some assembly required"!
Go to a rental range, see what they have, start handling them. Pick the ones that feel "right", and test fire. Rental can save BIG disappointment dollars. Ignore our egos and find what's right for YOU. Good hunting!

Hmmm ... you "hate" the grip safety on the XD's? With a proper grip, I don't even notice mine. If you can get over your hate, I'd probably go XD9 C or SC. You'll get a short magazine and an extended magazine with the pistol so you can decide which you prefer to shoot/carry.

If you like a short trigger reset, you could go with an XDm. You can't get the compact grip but they're still light and concealable and, IMO, one of the best (if not the best) shooting guns right out of the box on the market for under $550 OTD.

SR9C is a great little gun very good accuracy the only problem with them is Ruger gunks them up pretty good from the factory a good cleaning and you have an excellent reliable pistol.
