Hey TallPine

Lookin' for an update. You still dealin' with this wierdo neighbor? Is the sentencing still coming this month? Will pray for best results... keep us informed, stay safe!
 
He was sentenced to 30 months and $35,000 fine. Unfortunately, he is still loose until whenever (????) he reports to federal prison :rolleyes:

How much of that will he even serve...? Just found out today that he has sold his place to somebody from NH, so I guess he will not be coming back. Don't know if the new owner is a stranger or one of his buddies - hopefully the former.

Daughters are going to be out of the house now, so it will be just the wife and me.

Our old dog just got run over too :( I guess we will be getting a puppy, since the other dogs have left or will be leaving with the girls.

Sorry to hear of you losing your dog at the same time your daughters are heading out on their own too. That makes it a harder blow. Glad you are thinking of getting another puppy though.

If you want a great companion/working/protection dog, check this link-
http://www.filadog.com/welcome.htm . Don't know how far you are from them but they are the closest breeder I know of that I would recommend. The breed is not for everyone by a long shot, there are some down sides but now that we have our first Fila I cannot see us ever being without one again.

85% or 25.5 mos. Up to 6 months prior to end of sentence he may be eligible for release to a half-way house.

Once he is in custody and designated to a federal facility you can keep track of him through http://www.bop.gov/

Lee, we are thinking about getting a Golden Retriever since we know someone who has a litter right now.

Another neighbor (about 1/2 mile away) used to have a Tibetan Mastiff (they split the sheets and she took the dogs). He was huge. Looked like a bear from a distance, until you saw him walk. He was ok but had a definite mind of his own. Started coming over to our place and one evening he picked up our cordless phone from the deck and played keep away with it. I finally fired a shot into the ground (nowhere near the dog) and that scared him into dropping the phone. It still has teethmarks on it.

I don't want a dog that might be dangerous, but just one to be alert. Not that a Golden might not attack in defense of home and family. If I wanted a serious guard dog I would get a Malinois. Daughter that just moved out has one of those (plus a 12g 870).

We don't want to tie our dog up, so it needs to be one that will stay close to the house. Also, if a dog even looks like it might be bothering livestock, it will get shot around here. Can't say I blame anyone for that.
 
Interesting..... What a scumbag, and the court system is a business... If they figure they can make more money by not going to trial thats what theyll do.... quite sad.... real or not if he was producing the stuff illegally thats a pretty serious crime, you have to be licensed to do stuff like that I think.

And how nice of him, he gets busted, so he rolls over on the guy that gave him his bread and butter..... :cuss: :cuss: :cuss: RAT... I hate rats... cant be man enough to stand up to your own mistakes, gotta roll over on someone else to save your own hide...... People like that should just be taken out behind the barn and shot..... :evil: :D

And as far as him serving his sentence, I seen it mentioned above... The way I always understood it, is that he only has to serve 80% of the minimum... unless its 30 months cut and dry, he will maybe serve half of that....

Some bad news and good news all rolled into one, sorry about the dog... its tuff to lose a dog, my dad just bought an English Bulldog, after losing his German Shepard... this was a true german, not the american GSD were all so familiar with... he was trained in chek, 'a police dog' would be the easiest way for everyone to understand it, that dog was more intelligent than most people I know...

but Im glad to hear that the house will be under new ownership.... just hope its not someone of the same demeanor..

It might have involved adults. I edited my post as I went back and saw that my recollection was a little flawed. The actual description was that it was brutal/violent and may have depicted criminal activities outside of just porn.
 
Yea, thats the way I understood it as well, But if it was nonconsensual that changes things, Alot of U.S. based websites out there about role playing etc. As long as its consensual its legal... but from the sounds of it alot of it wasnt..
 
He was charged under "obscenity" laws, and pled guilty so he must have thought a 1A defense wouldn't work.

I have some mixed feelings as I am pretty libertarian in viewpoint, but apparently the videos were really rough stuff (not just nude statues ;) ) and the guy is PITA anyway.

After what happened in December I can't believe that he was just innocently supplementing his social security :rolleyes: I know that is somewhat circular logic, but where my family's safety is concerned I have to evaluate the facts as they stand.

He is a lying sleazebag, for one thing. He was telling people that he was selling his place because he is moving to CA, when in reality he is going to prison. And when we first moved in, he was telling us what a poor old man he was - then we find out that he allegedly made $400K in 2 years selling porn. :barf:

Heck, I could retire for life on that kind of money.

(I wish I knew where he has it buried :scrutiny: )
 
Talked to our rancher neighbors' that live a few miles up the road:

The next door neighbor brought the new owner by their place a few days back. The lying sleazebag told this story about how a sister or somebody was sick in CA and that was why he was moving (rather than the truth that he is going to the federal pen). :barf:

Then he starts going off in front of them about how awful we are and how I shot his dog last year. My rancher friend says that's not true about me, and furthermore that if the dog had showed up on his land that he would have shot it on sight just on general principles. ;) (BTW, the dog was coming over to our place and killing our cats, and we told him to keep it home and he didn't).

The rancher's daughter in law is saving up all the printed newspaper articles and is going to present copies of them to the new owner when he moves in. :p (I don't take the paper - just read the stories on the web site)

It's nice to have a few good friends. :)

I hope the new neighbor will be a good guy, but I am learning to be pretty cautious at first. :scrutiny:
 
Tallpine, any dog can be dangerous.

If you want a dog that will be alert in the way you are looking for, get one that is going to be suspiscous of outsiders.
Goldens have a bad habit of being friendly to anybody after about 30 seconds. I've owned them, they could pose a threat if it went insane.

Excellent lists here that seem to apply to your situation.

Actually, a dog that meets your requirements and climate (I'm assuming it gets cold up there) would be an Airedale. They are about the same size as Goldens and don't mind cold much at all. They are also very trainable and loyal.

I was going to suggest a bully breed until I noticed where you are. Bully breeds don't tend to do as well in cold weather although you'd be hard pressed to find a more loyal and loving dog...unless you aren't supposed to be there.
 
Tall Pine- How about throwing a BBQ and invite all the neighbors. You can get together and check out the new guy.
 
Well, its good at least the new owner isn't one of his friends.

Sounds like the rancher friend set the new folks straight--they'll find out the truth sooner or later about the dirtbag.

Sorry about your dog. I've been through that as well.

Ug. I know what it's like to find out that you live next to a monster.

My next door neighbor is the Cali pedophile that popped up on the news late last week--had logbooks with the names of 36,000 little boys in them. Convicted in several states of molestion. He fed us a bunch of stories too.

The problem with Megan's Law is that it depends entirely upon the good behavior and cooperation of convicted offenders. The ones that don't want to be registered, aren't. They're slick and you really just won't be able to spot them.

I'm just thankful that the police aren't over there searching the yard with a backhoe and shovels.

Anyway, we are picking up a 7 week old Golden Retriever puppy tomorrow. :)

I hope Slimebag goes off to the Federal Hotel soon (he sure makes a tempting target :p )
 
Hey TallPine, if you don't like the new neighbor, don't build a corral down new that corner, built a big ol' PIGPEN! That'll stink much more than horse excrement ever will!
