Just got an ad from Brownells advertising a new, US made Remington 870. Who is making this shotgun? I wasn’t aware that the shotgun line had been picked up by anyone.
I got that email this morning too. I actully am intrigued by the fact it is reamed and threaded for Remchokes.
RemArms is turning out a lot of 870s. They gone back to a metal trigger group from the plastic trigger group. The actions on the 870s are very slick and by the looks of things, they have hit a home run with the new 870s. The 870 Fieldmasters I've seen have very nice fit and finish, much better than the old Expresses. The actions are very smooth.
RemArms is also turning out the V3 shotgun now. I am seeing them show up for sale here and there. These are new production guns.
They are also turning out Model 700s. Mostly ADLs and SPS synthetics, but also new production BDLs, CDLs and muzzle loaders. The 700s I've had my hands on are, again, fitted and finshed better than previous guns.
From what I have personally seen, the new RemArms is tunring out better guns than Remington has in the past.
RemArms, not to be confused with the old Remington. The conglomerate was split up in the bankruptcy sale. Federal got the ammo, Ruger got Marlin, RemArms got the Remington firearms, few of which are being made yet. Express, Fieldmaster, and Wingmaster are showing up. Have not seen 1200, 700, or anything else yet.
You, and my fat fingers, got me. 1100, of which I have several, should never be conflated into a second rate 1200.Probably because Winchester made the 1200.
I think they are making 1100 Competition Synthetics also, my LGS got one in recently.
No police department that I know of still utilize 12 bores in a lethal role, them all being replaced with Armalites.
