thing is, It's *not* a simple question...
My boot camp issued M16 was originally issued in 1974, IIRC (I got my paws on it in 1980)
I was told it had been rebarreled, but afaik, it was mostly original.
By the time a component might be wearing out, I ve likely replaced it for other reasons, but these days, I am not a high volume shooter.
