Hi Everybody!
I just wanted to stop in and say hello. I am fairly new to the shooting community and beyond enjoying firearms with my relatives and chatting with the occasional vendor at gunshows, I havent had much to do with folks in the firearms community. I joined this forum and a couple others just to toss my questions and bounce ideas off of seasoned individuals who arent trying to peddle their latest piece of junk onto me because of my youth. I tried asking gunsmiths and shop owners questions but all they seem to want to do nowadays is sell me something or brush me off because of my age. I am 20 years of age, I am in school, and I do have a stable job. I dont make much in the way of money but firearms are a hobby I intend on thoroughly investing in during the course of my (hopefully long) life. It would be nice to give a howdy to some guys in my area and hopefully make some in the flesh contacts that I can shoot with from time to time.
I have tossed around the idea of hunting but since I don't like game meat I have yet to partake in the sport. Currently I am in a crossroads as far as what I would like to get into. I am looking heavily at the TC Encore and that whole scene, but I am also heavily looking at getting into long range shooting. As far as my experience with firearms is concerned, I have a pretty good idea how they function on the whole, what the parts are for, and atleast for a few things I am aware of what brands carry a good name. I have been shooting since I was 4 years old. My first gun was a model 1904 winchester which was my greatgrandfather's as a boy and is still in my possession to this day. I have fired most everything in pistols, shotguns, and rifles, excluding the long action magnum cartridges.
Despite my youth I do have almost 17 years behind the sights and hopefully I can add to that for many years to come. I would like to thank everybody for their patience in advance for any stupid questions I ask and I do promise I will try my best to avoid asking things that make everybody groan.
So after my long ramblings I say, Howdy Yall!
John,
