Para Ordinance has a 6" long slide gun listed on their website as being on the way for the second quarter of 2013. It's called the Elite LS Hunter. MSRP is $1,249. The spec sheet doesnt specify if it has a ramped barrel, but I'm hoping it will.

This might be a new production 10mm worth considering. Wonder what the street price will be?

Gah... they sure know how to fuglify a 1911. The bulky rail combined with the giant forward serrations combined with no radiuses/scallops on the front of the slide = puketastic IMO. :D

Looks good on YOU though...

I wonder why they didn't do a double stack like they do with some of their 45's. That was always the main thing that drew me to Para's (though I have never actually purchased one). I do like having adjustable sights on handguns, and a longer sight radius. Its interesting though I think they could have done better with the aesthetics.

Para didn't doublestack it? What were they thinking? I'll stick with my Elite Match.

Not a 10mm auto fan by any means, but more to the point, I'm not a Para fan at all. Para would likely be last on my list of 1911s, I've been wholly unimpressed with every Para I've handled. However if you like sub par 1911's and shooting expensive boutique ammo through one, hey whatever, although it is partially stunning anyone would still consider producing a 10mm.

I'll pile on; Why isn't that gun a X2 stack? It does look a little unbalanced but I would need to see it in person to tell for sure.

I own / have owned a couple of Paras. Good guns, I like mine. I had a Commander-length stainless single stack and that was one of the nicest 1911s I've ever owned. The thing was perfect in fit, form and function.

That thing is FUGLY to say the least. I will go with a Glock if i go with a 10mm and i would like to!

Why all the Para bashing? My LDA is a great pistol. It's far more accurate and reliable than the Colt I once owned.

The new gun will be a welcome addition to the ranks of the 10mm handguns. The 6" barrel helps make it a more useful hunting handgun. The rail underneath could be useful if you're hunting gators at night and need a light I suppose. Other than that it just adds to the weight.

That it is single stack makes sense for a hunting gun. Double stack for that purpose is unnecessary and just adds weight.

The 10mm is a very good round. It is a niche round, which means that like the 38 Super, the 41 Magnum, the 44 Special and a couple of more it has a small but loyal band of dedicated followers who appreciate what the caliber offers and the guns that go with it.

Yes it is more powerful than the 40S&W and the 45acp.

This is one of the more thread-less threads lately but here's my take on the pistol.

In the first reading I got "para", long slide and 10mm as the more pertinent points and my mind went straight to how much I'd like it for coyote, wild dog and the like.

Then before seeing the later link I thought how much I hope that it doesn't turn out to be a double stack given my preference for it as a hunter rather than a defender.

I would personally prefer the single stack as a buyer in a hunting frame of mind and in fact would toss the snag-nasty sights for large, smooth and fixed items before this went with me on a hunt.

I may well be the buyer for this pistol sometime in the summer.

As to the company rep and the weirdness about 10mm under performing... whatever!

Thanks for the heads-up ELKINS.

I don't want this particular incarnation of a 10mm.
But, I am happy to see it coming out. I hope it sells well and makes people happy.
I'm glad to see additional offerings in 10mm. Hopefully it will help bring more people over to 10mm.
Each new gun, load, accessory, customer, etc... Brings us one step closer to an affordable, non-blowback 10mm carbine.

Even if 10mm is weaker than a hot loaded spit wad! I'm happy with SAFELY getting 200gr @ 1200fps.

I'm looking forward to this, I have a coiple of Paras on my list and this will make 3.

Posted from my car phone.

Para was where all of the double stack frames used to come from way back in the 70's, "If I remember", because very few if anyone made a double stack frame. I remember my uncle, building a gun back then , "a dbl stack 45", and using a Para frame. So it is strange for them to be going single stack other than for a novelty weapon, or to try to be different.
They make good guns, but are very disorganised as a company. My friend waited a rediculous amount of time for a custom build, and finally his rep, "he owns a gun shop", made him call S&W who got him the exact gun, for less money, and it said S&W instead of Para, and cost less. He got it in 3 weeks instead of 6 months he had waited and still no gun.
I don't see many other than "guys like us" who are enthusiasts shelling out extra money for the 10mm, when it's harder to find ammo, "again enthusiasts", who reload.
