Hey all. In one of the gun mags, I recently saw a new production, stainless steel, .25 ACP auto. It looked like a stainless Colt 1908 clone. In fact, it looked like the Bauer .25 that was made some years back.

Anywho, I am not finding it via Google search. Any ideas what I saw? Have a link? Muchas gracias.

(P.S. I realize the .25 ACP is only slightly better than worthless for a defensive arm. I am just interested for neat-o factor and already have carry guns in better chamberings.)

I had a Titan, Raven, Jennings, don't remember what it was.
Ditched it for a Davis derringer and I reload for it.
2, 1/4" round balls makes a good plinker load but would like to get a decent auto loader again just to play with.

The 1908 Colt and the Bauer look nothing alike. The Bauer looks like the Browning Baby.

That said, PSA was building a Browning/Bauer look alike. They even talked about a 22 short model. I dunno if they're still in business.

you saw a PSA-25, made by Precision Small Arms out of Aspen Colorado.

They are licensed by FN Herstal to produce the Baby Browning here in the USA.

They import the very same guns to Europe under the FN name.

They are extremely well made, but on the pricier side.

I have 2. One in plain jane stainless steel, and the other is in high polished stainless finish with abalone inlays. I also have a 1964 FN baby browning, and can attest that the PSA versions are as nice if not nicer than the originals.

What did you not like about your PSA that you sold? Did it not function properly? Or we're you not happy with fit and finish?

Nice collection of .25s you've got there. I have seen a few of the PSA-25 pistols and was impressed with their fit and finish. I have a late '50's Baby Browning with the nickel slide, alloy frame, and pearlite stocks. I am just amazed by the amount of detailed machining that went into making these tiny guns.

Sig 228 and I exchanged pm's on this subject. Hopefully he won't mind me paraphrasing him here. Basically his lack of love for the pistol was due to getting bitten by the slide and a general distrust of the .25 acp round as a whole. I don't think he thought the gun was a dog, but would have been happier with more rounded slide edges. Mine are rounded off, so perhaps it was brought to PSA's attention at some point and they began to bevel the slide edges a bit. Slide bite can happen with this gun due to its diminutive size. The bigger your hands, the worse the bite.

Rob i basically summed it up. Another thing I don't like about these type guns ( psa, browning or otherwise) is what I believe to be a serious safety flaw in the design as pointed out in this post:

http://www.thehighroad.org/archive/index.php/t-417210.html

Although I never experienced a problem, I was always afraid of a misfire when clearing a jammed round because of the protruding firing pin.

Also, even though the 25acp cartridge is on the lower end of the scale, it wasn't the prime motivation for selling the gun. Availability and cost of good ammo was.

On the positive side, it is a true mouse / pocket gun. The PSA25 was a solid piece of machined metal. Plus when I had an issue one time, the president of the company, Len Kristal, took care of me. Phone calls and emails, he assured my complete satisfaction. Lol, try getting s&w's president to do the same.

I think PSA has a great product and it's nice to see this gun continue living. It just wasn't the gun for me.

Yeah, PSA. Here's mine:

You can get them in blued finish also, as well as an aluminum "ultralight."

I have a Beretta Jetfire too, so I've had some practice in not getting slide-bitten. The key is to resist the temptation to wrap your hand around the little sucker. Don't let your trigger finger go into the trigger guard past the first joint, and that will keep you from "choking up" too much on the grip.

Um, at the risk of sounding like a jerk...what's the point of .25 autos anymore? Beyond collection/interest's sake, of course. Who needs a gun smaller than a Ruger LCP or a Seecamp? And both of those shoot .380.
