Ive been looking around and trying to decide on a new gun

Ive narrowed it down to either a stoeger 9mm or 40 cal
a dealer in the area has the 40 but not the 9

or

CZ-75 9mm
all but non existent in the area

I have owned handguns before a 9mm Bdm and a glock 9mm didnt like the glock did like the bdm but that was 12-13 years ago

should I go with the 40 or the 9mm .I know there isnt much price diffrence for ammo

also is the a good place to buy online

thanks for any help

Contrary to your post - there's a considerable difference in the price of .40s&w and 9mm ammo. Personally, I prefer 9mm to .40s&w. In respect to the firearms, I have experience with both the CZ-75B and the Beretta Cougar. The Stoeger is now made on the Beretta machinery in Turkey and is essentially the same handgun. IMO, the Stoeger is a more refined firearm, has better ergonomics, and its price is very attractive.

welcome to thr.
like the other member said there is a great price difference in ammo unless you are gonna reload, i say go with the 9mm.

thanks for the input so far

and I think I will go for a 9mm

the stoeger may be easier and cheaper to find

all the gun shops in the concord/charlotte area believe only in full retail:cuss:

Did you say the Beretta/Stoeger has better ergonomics than a CZ 75? I am pretty sure the single biggest score the 75 has going for it is its excellent ergonomics. You must have differently shaped hands than I.

Can't go wrong with either gun, the Cougar is a great pistol, I like the CZ better, I have a 40B and a PCR, and want to add a fullsize 75B when I can.

well which ever I can find in stock and at a good price it will either be a cz model or the cougar 9mm

ok I found a place that has the stoeger 9mm for 449 is that a good price or should I hit gunbroker even though Im leary of ordering online

thanks for any suggestions also

Both are fine weapons. I carry 9mms in all my defensive guns. The ammo is cheaper, especially in practice ammo (WWB is under 20 bucks for 100 rounds). Good defensive ammo in 9mm is pretty good. With more powerful ammo you start to trade off in shot speed, recoil, and blast. The 9mms are soft shooting in my M&P and I thin k multiple hits will be much easier with it than in 40/45.

the 9mm is going to be my choice is 449 a fair price for the stoeger or should I go look else where

Sounds like a decent price. I was at a gun store today, the only CZ they have is a P-01, the price is $530.

EDIT: If you buy through the mail you'll pay shipping and whatever the transfer cost is too, so you need to consider that in addition to the price.

yea the diffrence between buying it local 449+ tax
or buying it online 389-399 +25 shipping and +30 transfer with shipping and transfer fee is 30-40

so spend the extra 30-40 and have it now or having to wait a week or two to save :banghead:

this is for the stoeger cougar 9mm

Go for it, sounds like a good price, all guns cost more now than they did even a year ago, and it is readily available, and you want it, and what other reason do you need to pull the trigger on this purchase?

Another vote for the Cougar. Its a very reliable, safe and modern pistol. The DA/SA with safety/decocker is very good for a HD gun and you can leave the weapon in DA with the safety on. Its also quite compact and has a short barrel.

The CZ is a great gun, but it does not have a decock function, at least the B version. Decocking the weapon manually is an added complication, and you cannot keep the safety on if in DA mode. Its also a full size pistol and great time tested design.

Both of them have a great feel and point extremely well. They are both very accurate weapons.

I would stick with 9mm for your first pistol. Buy a few extra magazines and a cleaning kit as well. And remember that the Cougar likes to run a bit wet.

Good luck!!!

Im checking on one more place for a price and if not Im off to buy it tonight

the decocker is a plus for me too

got to try to save to buy more ammo hehehehe

well after looking around finally bought the stoeger 9mm
will give review and feedback this weekend after shooting

AND THANKS AGAIN FOR ALL THE HELP!!

.

I used to be in love with the Cougar's looks. It is a "sexy" gun, if there is
such a thing.

edited!

The CZ75B is a great gun and you can add a kadet adapter to it for economical 22 practice. All steel and hard to beat
long term.

Both guns will serve you well. If you can, rent them both and fire a dozen rounds thru each. Otherwise, the 9 is cheaper to shot if your at the range a lot; if you your looking for stopping power on the first shot, go 40
