I’ve had a S&W Sport rifle since 2013 or so. Never really shot it much. I’m more of a revolver guy. Last year I started taking a bit more interest in it. I put a different butt stock on it, removed the forward vertical grip and installed a 1-4 x 30 Swampfox LPVO. I liked the rifle a lot better, but really wanted a rifle without the A2 fixed sight & I wanted a fairly long, free float handguard.
I ordered a Palmetto State Armory upper and got it the other day

Last couple pictures shows it with the Strike industries J comp, gen 2 muzzle brake I plan to install.
Here it is with the old upper with scope

I really like the Swampfox Tomahawk LPVO I bought last year. They were an unknown, fairly new company and I got the 1-4 because it was on sale for a decent price. I figured if I liked It, I would get a 1-6 and move the 1-4 to my 15-22. I did a little research plus saw the Swampfox black friday sale so I had a strong suspicion they would throw a heck of a July 4th sale since that is also the founding date of their company. Sure enough, they had a great sale. I ended up getting the 1-8X30 for $265. The normal price is $379 though Optics Planet usually has them for around $349. Have not yet mounted the new scope
Swampfox makes other scopes and red dots. Check them out and if you see something you like, wait til black friday. Last year darn near everything was 1/3 off

I got that same upper for my range AR, and I have had great luck with it. I remember the cost was so cheap I opted to go with the complete upper rather than spend close to $200 for a replacement barrel. I believe the one I bought was discounted due to "blemishes" or something.

This one was $369, with free shipping and I found a 5% off discount code on the web that worked. It included the BCG and charging handle
I am hoping to get out tomorrow to try it out and make sure everything is OK before I install the brake & mount the scope.
Eventually I'll get another lower so I have 2 complete rifles

The hand guard is fairly thin and my skinny finger tips were wanting to end up in the Mlok opening so I ordered and installed a couple sets of the Magpul type 2 Mlok rail covers. They have a fairly aggressive stippling that really locks your hand in place. I used a pack of black & a pack of gray. They are a 2 piece design with the center strip locking them in place. Center strips are pre scored so I started with a half strip

Lookin good!

Now, you just need another lower and you'll have 2 complete rifles....why, and then you will need to build another to use up leftover parts......hmmm, then maybe an AR9 because you have some extra Glock magazines........well now you've got more leftovers, a minimalist build sounds good.........

:D

Oh so true. I have to keep any and all AR parts separated AND under lock and key. Otherwise they turn into full builds on their own. I found out the hard way that the same thing happens with Glock parts, especially if there are any P80 frames sitting around.

I have had nothing but good experiences with Swampfox Optics products. I own at least one each of all their dot optics along with a couple Tomahawk LPVO scopes, 1 Arrowhead LPVO scope. A Patriot 6-24 scope and a Blade 1X prism scope. I find that the Swampfox scopes to be as good if not a little better than comparable optics from Primary Arms and Vortex. I prefer the Swampfox LPVO scopes over Primary Arms PVO scopes since the Swampfox scopes have a bigger and more usable reticle.

I will say that with any brand of LPVO, once you get into the 8x and 10x LPVO scopes the eye relief definitely gets shorter. There is a difference between the 1-4 and 1-8 LPVO scopes I have.

A friend got the Vortex 1-6 Strike Eagle around the same time I got the Swampfox. I looked through both at the range, sitting side by side. The Swampfox Tomahawk was clearly the better of the 2. Brighter image, better color and sharper image. Its also a lot brighter.
How is the Arrowhead? It seems to be about 30% more expensive. Is it 30% better

I got out this afternoon with a friend to try out the new PSA upper. I only shot 60 rounds but function was 100%. I sighted in a 22 at 25 yards so just went ahead and sighted in the pop up iron sights at that range too. First 3 shots were at 6:00, about 3.5 inches low. I adjusted the front sight, took 3 shots, still low but only a bit over an inch, so one more adjustment and I had 1 in the 1 inch bullseye and one on either side almost touching the edge of the bullseye. I am very satisfied with the upper. Here is a picture of my friend shooting it

Now that I know it works I can install the muzzle brake and mount the scope

Yes I would say the Arrowhead is worth the extra money versus the Tomahawk. The glass is clearer on the Arrowhead when at the same magnifications as the Tomahawk. My Tomahawks are 1-4 and my Arrowhead is 1-8. The Arrowhead has locking turrets which is nice plus it has more choices in reticles and comes with a choice of red or green illumination.

If you happen to qualify for the Swampfox MIL/LEO discount, then I highly suggest signing up for it. The MIL/LEO discount is only good on the Swampfox website.

Swampfox just had a heck of an anniversary sale. The Tomahawk line was all 1/3 off so the 1-4 was only $195, 1-6 was $230 and 1-8 was $265. Last Black Friday the did something similar but had all products on sale at around 30% off. They even had a Buy any 2 optics & get a 3rd for free

Yes the recent sale was great and I was able to get my MIL/LEO discount on top of the sale price. I bought a Liberator II sight with green reticle and a Patriot 6-24 MIL reticle that came with a set of their Freedom rings for less than the normal price of the Patriot scope alone.
