I'm thinking early fall is the right time for our next Bay Area get together at Los Altos- Maybe August or September. Yeah, it's still June, but I think it's good to plan these things in advance.

These are fun shoots, previous attendees include Sven, QuarterBoreGunner, atek3, Sgt_Stevo, pipsqueak-Just to name a few.

Any thoughts? Dates that would work out for you?

My schedule is not fix. If you can let me know when is the next meet, I'll try to attend.

Aren't any of you folks near Concord Sportsman's? They do get busy on the weekends, but I think that is a good sign considering this is California.

Yeah.... when?

Me and the kiwi just got back from a trip to Montana... I saw so many guns on that trip and am now inspired to do another range day.

Got to shoot a blackpowder gun at the range in Libby, MT... cool.

Also got to visit with Kit and John and Oleg.
Pics are here

Sven! where are you?

What a damn fine idea. We've got our regularly scheduled excellent weather now and it seems like an excellent idea. East Bay or whatever.

Someone put their foot down and make a decision on date and place. I'll bring the ARs.

Sven! Where are you?

edit: So labrat, did you like the smoke stick?

I'd be up for a shoot. Just got back from the local indoor range (Jackson for you SFers) and boy was it crowded. Open to any of the aforementioned ranges - Concord, Chabot, Los Altos, etc.

Hey y'all. Do we want to do it at Los Altos this time, or are there other ranges in the Bay Area people would like? Los Altos is a beautiful range- wonderful area up there and a fantastic drive up. But, perhaps we'd like some variation. It's all up to you guys. I'm open for most weekends (assuming my dad is in a good enough mood to drive me up there- the Bay Area Mafia combined with the HS/LC Crew means a fair amount of shooting and driving!:D). As long as I get it on the calendar before something else shows up, it'll probably work.

The Bay Area crew is way overdue for a gathering.. when was the last one, April? Best get one in before the weather turns crummy. Here's a few suggestions for dates:

Oct 9/10
Oct 16/17
Oct 23/24

Highpower matches are on the 16th, so that would be my last choice.

Location: Los Altos has worked well in the past but it's a pain for our east bay peeps. How are the facilities at Chabot?

Chris: Sure, a mini-meet at Jackson would be cool. I/we (me, brother, roommate) usually go every few weeks, so let me know.

'Twas fun. I actually got to shoot another one, not pictured, with the two trigger thing. Sorry, don't know technical terms. The owner of the guns loaded for me. I think he actually hunts with it. Pretty cool.

madkiwi got to shoot a luger and I so much fun with a Winchester 9422 (thanks to Topgun) that I had to buy one. I'll hopefully have it by the time this shoot gets organized.

We missed out on going to the range in Missoula with Kit, John and Oleg because we had to drive up to Libby but if you look at the pics (link in previous post), you'll see that they had lots of fun.

edit: you do remember madkiwi and I are about 15 min. from Jackson?

If this is going to happen-

Oct 2,3 is out- we may go to the Reno Convention Center gun show and the machine gun shoot at the Mustang Range in Fernley, NV

Oct 10,11 is the long weekend, might be motorcycling in the Sierras.

Not sure if Chabot is the place to go- no rapid fire, no soda can or bottle range, no sillouettes. Also no cameras!

Other than that, I am looking to get together soon.

From Calguns:

3rd Sunday of every month, CHabot in CAstro Valley opens one of their 50 yd ranges (Range 5) to plinking after 12:30PM.

Tried it for the first time last month. People brought out all kinds of targets: bowling pins, fruit, water bottles, network servers, hard drives, furniture and pots. Only rules are no glass and clean up after yourself. Ask permission before bump firing.

Handguns, rifles (no 50 BMG's) and shotguns OK.

Only costs $5.00 paid to the Range Master running Range 5. Don't need to pay the $12.00 at the range office unless you plan to shoot on the fixed distance ranges for rifle or pistol.

Note that the above isn't listed on their calendar on the website, so it might be prudent to call first. As for not allowing cameras, I've brought mine many times and not had a problem. I think you just need the permission of the person being photographed.

chabot and richmond are my first two choices. Los Altos is a drive and a half to get to from berkeley. It will be good to see y'all again.

So I look over to the wife sitting on the couch and ask "Hey honey, do we have anything planned for next weekend? The 23rd?"

Dead silence. Glare. "What?... did I forget something?" She gives me that little head tilt that tells me that I've done something really stupid but I haven't realized it yet...

THINK MAN THINK!

Ah...wait. Yeah that would be it.

"Uhm..yeah so I guess our 12th wedding anniversary counts doesn't it?"

"nevermind... forget I asked..."

QBG - LOL! Don't want you to miss the anniversery. I'd give madkiwi the same look if that was our situation.

Well, unless we get a huge response on that date/place then we'll have to try something else.

I would love to go. However, my son have his recital on that day. I'll check on the time and will let you know if I can go.

Atek3, just what in the hell was that? Is that some sort of weird propaganda film controlling my brain with subliminal messages? Huh?
