A drunk guy with a gun, I'm making the call to the cops.
"EEEK!...I saw a guy drinking and I think he has a gun!"
"Was he disturbing anyone?"
"Well...no..."
"Did you see the gun?"
"Well...no..."
"Why are you calling?"
"Uhhh..."
"We have a backlog of serious crimes to deal with. Please don't call 911 unless there is a crime in progress!...click!"
This thread is priceless.
I can see that many here have called 911 in the Portland metro area. Ha, ha, ha, ha, ha.
Here is how the typical call goes...
Ring,ring,ring.... please hold for the next availible operator....15....minutes.
911 what county?.. please hold.....15 minutes....
911 what is you emergency? Breathless voice.. "There is a guy who I think is armed and I think he is drunk, oh God, oh my he may just start to go into a homicidal rage and KILL everyone" Sir please calm down.." OK but oh my God he is being very loud, I just know that he is going to KILL tonight, oh my God the children, what about the children? Please for the love of God please save them."
Sir is he brandishing the gun? "no."
Is he threatinng to harm someone? "no but he is very loud."
Can you see the gun? "no, but oh my God I just know he has one"
Sir 911 is for emergency's only. Call the Sherriff's office.
"sniff, sniff, OK I'll try to hold out a little longer, should I tail him? Just in case
he explodes into violence and ssttttart's to KILL." Oh God oh dear, WHAT ABOUT THE CHILDREN?"
Ya know all this pissin and moaning and it could have been a cell phone for pity's sake.
So now that youv'e been blown off by 911 what do you do next? Call the Sherrif and lie to to get them to speed right over to the scene of the it may happen crime?
But at least you are secure in the knowledge of having saved everyone that didn't need to be saved anyway.
