They send me notices all the time telling me it's time to renew my membership, which hasn't yet expired. Lots of scare tactics being put to work over there.
i guess they send out millions of dvd to all its members, i don't think they should send out dvd then say pay or mail back. Anything for a charge sould be asked first. And wow always tons of renew lettersi dropped my first membership due to poor financial conditions and their solicitations. I was particularly ticked off about the unrequested dvd/coin mailings. The first packages were returned unopened with a request to stop mailing them to me. Then learned that , if not requested then you were not obligated to send them back. Received about a dozen before not reupping my membership and at least another dozen after my membership had expired. They are still in a box somewhere in my garage. Since my new membership has been started about 4 months ago, i haven't received anything except my membership package in the snail mail. There is a lot of email traffic from them which is easy to stop if i cared to and doesn't cost them anything.
Regardless of the long list of wonderful things the NRA does the bottom line is they're still in it for profit. When the board wants more money then they'll start pushing harder. How hard is too hard? That's up to the "market" to decide.
Don't know what they sent you (sounds like it was porn!), but if you don't want your FREE DVD, feel free to send it my way-I can't get 'em to send me any more free DVDs! Many years ago I got Ten Guns That Changed The World (or sumpin' close) which I kept (without paying), enjoyed, and passed around for my friends to enjoy.Subject: Offensive DVD mailer
I also got sick of the junk mail and dropped my membership.
However, I still believe the work they do is important to gun owners. What works for me is I send a anonymous donation every year. Doing my part without the irritating whining and begging.
wow, i hope thats not truemany times these fund raising mailings are done by a marketing company and the organisation they're done for gets the monies that were agreed upon in the contract. Rest stays with the marketing firm.
Hey, look at it this way, its keeping americans employed and paying taxes to help pay off our national debt.
Win, win all the way.
