heheh. well this happened i think 2 yrs ago, but lately as i get mroe into guns, it bothers me more and more, you guys - well, bash away, i deserve it.

OK= so i haul junk for a living. (YES, up until someone liberated my huge system, my truck played the tune of SAnford and Son QUITE loudly)

so i had done a big job at the house of a lawyer who died, scored TONS of valuable stuff. the exectuor lady who hired me liked me, and passed my name on to another woman.

THIS is where it gets really sad.

the other lady had just lost her husband, and avid gunner with several rifles.
she needed a bunch of stuff hauled, and wanted to "dispose" of the weapons properly, and had been told by first woman i was a very nice, responsible person. i in turn informed her that i also knew a couple of collectors besdies myself, very very responsible people.

OK- so here this lady is ready to give me at least 6 or 7 guns plus money to haul away her dead husband's junk.

YEAH= obviously the lady was clueless, she coulda just taken the guns to a gun shop and got beaucoup $$$, but that's a rich lady for ya. she just wanted to get rid of them.

what happened???

well, the lady lived kinda far, well out of my normal area. the main payment was the guns, most of which i had planned to give to my friend for safekeeping, we were gonna do this on a Sunday.

AAAAAARG!! my very selfish mean at the time GF- freaked out at the idea of me going out all day on a sunday i was supposed to be with her, the actual value of the weapons totally escapes her, she just saw it as toys i didnt need, and not enough $$$ to justify not being with her that day.
real nightmare, i had to cancel the job. never did it.
let the guns all go who knows where...............

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!

if that wasn't enough, i did another job - the family of dead father collected all the good guns and live ammo from dad's house, but let me take sights, triggers , reloading stuff to no end, unfinished stocks, shotgun barrel.

a good amount made it to my collector buddy-

BUT = took about 100 (SERIOUSLY< guy was an old army gun NUT) ONE HUNDRED triggers, couple boxes full of new sights, other parts, took it to the dump. DOH!
so many triggers, all in little boxes, all wasted. guy was apparently super marksman, big hair trigger fan.

i need to stop throwing this stuff away!!

if any of you read thru that, im sure you'd like to throttle me for this. i desrve it.

oh no what is so much worse- i was talking to her about this just last week,
- she feels bad, she just didnt realize how much it was all worth .

i have to give partial credit to the distance, but yeah, GF was the boss. can't believe i let her talk me out of that.

Yikes ! Guy - That IS a sad story. :what:

I hope you know better than to pass up a "once in a lifetime" oppertunity in your next lifetime. :neener:

All I can say is...it is your fault. On account that you

A. Let her actually talk you out of it.

B. Didn't state your argument more effectively - like telling her how much it was all worth.

You know this already. I just figured I'd help you out with your request for a verbal beating. :D

Just don't let it happen again!

OMG Get rid of that girl, She doesnt have to like guns, but if shes too ignorant and selfish to recognize and respect your hobby, just so she can have some attention on top of failing to recognize and respect the fact that it was your job... I simply wouldnt deal with that....

Sometimes you have to keep the lady happy and you did.

husker has it nailed pretty good.

there are times when you should do what she asks out of respect, or just to be nice. but there are times where the line is to be drawn, and poured in concrete...

The next full day you spend with her, tell her later that you passed up a job that involved a ton of jewelry (a nice ring particularly).

But tell her it was worth passing up to spend time with her.

You've got to get even before you begin to heal. It's a dude thing.

Let me get this straight....You took all that lovely gear to the dump, and kept the girlfriend....Dude, your priorities are ALL out of whack. :D Here's Dr Enfield's therepy proposal. Get to your gun store, buy ammo for everything you have in the safe, take to range(with guns), and shoot until you have no more ammo. Remember how much fun this is and in the future, NEVER toss shooting supplies or pass up an oppertunity to aquire more. OK, I'm done.
