Can I suggest using the return key may make reading your posts, especially the long ones, easier. The "wall of text" is never easy to read.

I put the night sights on last night, and my TLR 4, came in a few days ago, so now it's complete. I pop off the tlr4, throw in a stock mag and carry it as my primary , in a leather IWB holster that is 25 year old, "but works best. I still carry my PM9 with 2 spare mags in a little belt pouch and I am good to go.

These 20 oz Gen 4 guns are extremely easy on the carry end. Same goes for my 30 S, that they made lighter than my gen 3 "I guess because they fussed with it so many times, even though it's a gen 3. I may alternate with my 26 during daylight hours as it is a no extras gun stripped down for straight carry with 2, 19 mags as backup.

Hey guys, it works for me, and that is what counts with your carry,. Same platform same grip same controls. Nothing to get concerned with, I do not like safety's on any guns that aren't range guns, started out with revolvers in the late 60's and a glock is as close to a revolver as possible in a semi auto gun, just the grip is different, I want to pull and fire in one motion no thought or time for anything else.

Accuracy is as good as possible with my eyes, that's wht the laser/light, for night time. And the night is a must on any gun IMO, "they just work". The great thing on glocks is you can put in the front sight yourself avoiding a gunsmith charging you for doing it, I got the Metropolight for $35 dollars on Amazon, no tax, no shipping, got the TLR there also, same deal $105.00, free ship and no tax, can't beat the prices.

If I get my front sight on something, it's all over, in combat sometimes it's just not possible to get a perfect sight picture with both.

Glocks are great. The Smith M&Ps are great. Lots of high praise out there for the HK VP9 or any HK for that matter. Springfield's XD series are pretty good and cheap too but it all comes down to your definition of BEST and what kind of money you want to spend. I bought a Sig P226 Enhanced Elite (with the SRT) and it's become my favorite full sized pistol so I would say THAT one is the "best."

I'm surprised by CZ being mentioned so often for a gun that is not so readily available like Glocks CZs are probably one of the best values and absolutely reliable. You don't have to worry about parts because you won't need them.

You don't have to worry about parts because you won't need them.

CZ's are known for breaking trigger return springs and slide stops on some models. Not a big deal, but you should have a few laying around.

I'm considering a Tactical Sport myself, but I'm going to have to reconsider that if CZ thinks I need a half dozen slide stops to keep it running.
I've got an 85 Combat with about 8k rds that hasn't broken anything yet.

Its probably one of the best mass produced production guns ever built IMO. It is however, built for a singular purpose, and that is for competition. As such it will be subjected to a lot of rounds. So extra stops are a plus in my book.

Course there are also negatives.. Small to medium hands need not apply. Scared of 1-2lb SAO triggers, look somewhere else. More accuracy than my 1911's that cost 4x more than it did. etc. etc. etc.

george: It took me a long time to warm up to the plastic guns. But I have come around and have several now. But my favorite Hi-Cap 9mm now is my Long Barreled 17-L Glock, and it have been for several years. I hunt, plink, and shoot targets with it, and I shoot my 17-L a lot. But at night it sits on my night stand with in easy arms reach wearing a TLR-1 Light and a Crimson Trace Laser Sight. Along with a 31+ Round Magazine, loaded in the gun and another one laying beside it. I also have a long barreled Model 24 40mm S&W Glock set up the exact same way. Alway had a weakness for long barreled handguns. We are having more and more trouble with multi people home invasions, in the area where we live. I truly believe either one of these pistols should even up the odds.

My automatic answer to this question was the Gen4 Glock 17. That being said, the question was "What is the best hi cap 9mm for the times we live in"

Taking that last part into account, if you include hard financial times as part of the times we live in, I cannot think of many better guns for the price than the Ruger SR9E. Super comfortable grip, better trigger than my Gen 4 G17, good capacity, good looking IMO, accurate enough, hopefully reliable, but best of all, a rock bottom price! Almost affordable even, I may buy one just for the heck of it.

Depends on what you mean by "best". In a rental comparison of full size 9mm polymer pistols a couple of years ago, with my subjective categories including price, ergo, trigger, operation, and lending out to relatives in case of emergency, the Ruger SR-9 came out on top.

Personally, I enjoyed shooting the PX4 most, but it had too many idiosyncrasies.

Care to elaborate? I'm eyeing the PX4 as my next SD pistol, but reviews are few and far between.

I'm an unabashed FN fanboy, so the fns and fnx (which I foolishly traded) are probably toward the top of my personal list.

That said, there is no sweeter shooting 9mm for me than a Beretta 92fs. Yes it weighs more, yes it ONLY holds 15 in a mag (with factory mags that come with it), yes it's beefy in the hand, yes it has a safety that is the cause of much wailing, gnashing of teeth, and sorrowful lamenting on the Internet (really doesn't bother me, but I plan on converting it to a G when parts are available).

But she is my Italian beauty. Curves in the right places and loyal to a fault. Yes, my FNS compact is my hip's preferred carry due to weight and size, but my heart will always belong to Rosa Belladonna (that's what I call my Beretta).

For me, no other brand of HI cap 9 has been able to replace her.

Well I hope everyone get's what they want and need for Christmas, let me be the first to say those words that Terrorists hate, Merry Christmas, and a Happy New Year, to you all, from my family to yours.

Four CZ 75 full-size or Compacts were just seen in three Memphis gun shops, within the last month: "Guns And Ammo", and "The Arms Fair" in Cordova (the Compact).

If not many are "laying around" in retail shops, it might be a result of their popularity.

george burns: Merry Christmas, Happy New Year and tasty pork BBQ! Sent to you by an "Infidel".

I don't like the term "high-capacity"...that implies something more than a standard capacity. Many 9mm pistols, most .40S&Ws and a few .45ACPs have standard capacities between 12-20 rounds. A Glock 17 has a standard capacity of 17 rounds...it's not "high capacity", it's standard.

"High-capacity" would be something not standard such as Glock 30/33 rd mags, CZ's 26 rd mags or Sig 20 rd extended mags; higher capacity magazines than standard magazines.

The introduction of the Glock 17 in 1982 had a standard capacity of 17 rounds and the 1984 introduction of the Sig P226 had a standard capacity of 15 rounds. The only thing "high" are voters for anti-gun agendas.

Sorry, just a pet-peeve as the anti-gun crowds love to use terminology against gun owners and for the gun-ignorant. Hearing "high-capacity" just sounds out of the ordinary when it's really not.

I'm really, really liking my HK VP9.

Now they just need to make a compact version...please HK, please.

But it's still impossible to go wrong with the ubiquitous Glock 19

I'm not the person you asked, but I'll try to help anyway. For a frame of reference, I've got the following pistols:

Beretta PX4 (full size) 9mm
Walther PPQ 9mm
Bersa Thunder Pro UC 9mm
Glock 27 (.40 S&W)

The Beretta is the softest shooter of the bunch and I'm more accurate with it than the others by varying margins. (Notice that I didn't say the gun is more accurate; all of them are more accurate than my ability to put a round on target.) I don't know if it is the rotating barrel or not, but it is less snappy than the others. The Glock is a subcompact .40, so of course it has more recoil than the PX4. I've got a Lone Wolf 9mm conversion barrel on the way for the G27, and I'm looking forward to comparing the recoil of the Glock shooting 9mm.

The Beretta feels very natural in my hand, but so do the PPQ and the Bersa. The Glock doesn't but it's a Glock. A lot of people don't find them particularly ergonomic, but shoot them well.

I like the DA/SA action of the Beretta. I also like that the safety/decocker can easily be converted to a decocker only for those who prefer that mode.

My PX4 has been 100% reliable and has not given me any issues or problems whatsoever. I believe it is a well made gun that should last me the rest of my life.

I'm left handed, and my full size PX4 has the slide release only only the left side. I believe the compact version has it on both sides. As a lefty, I would prefer the ambidextrous setup on the compact.

The only dislike is a personal preference - I prefer a safety that flips upward for safe and down for hot. The PX4, like other Berettas, is down for safe and up for hot. To me, it just feels more natural to draw the gun and swipe my thumb down to disengage the safety. That's the way my Bersa works and I prefer it. But that's just a personal preference and is not a fault or shortcoming of the gun.

A caveat: I'm not an experienced pistol guy. I've had revolvers for a long time that I've only shot casually. I only got interested in accumulating a few pistols in the last 3 years. So don't think you're getting advice from some guru, cause I'm not.

One more thing, I just saw where an online vendor has a smoking deal on the full size PX4 9mm until about noon on Christmas day. I have no affiliation, but thought I would mention it just in case you are looking. It might be a violation of forum rules to name the vendor here, so PM me if you are interested.
