Ordered a progressive press finally.

so you are saying… You replace the 750 with the 6000?
Yes, turned out to be a better decision than I expected.

I had an LNL AP and 750 on the bench. I was going to get the FA FX-10...to replace the 750... but it was vaporware. So I got a Pro 6000 instead...looking to add an extra die station

Are you stuck on some point I'm missing?

no, just wondering if the Pro 6000 is as good as a 750. see if I’m missing something.

Sorry if I sounded a little short before, I've edited my previous post a bit.

In my opinion it is better and would be/has been my recommendation to new folks looking to get into a progressive press. I just got lucky that I added what happens to be Lee's new Halo press. A side benefit, not the primary, is the better value.

The only things that the 6000 gives up to the 750 is shorter handle stroke and more secure case feed (rim control)

DANG! and it’s affordable too

I got the Pro 4000 to work for 9mm. But I used one of the station for a Dillion Powder check. And I prefer to do the sizing on a Lee App. It’s really FAST but the case has to be sized and primed already

I’m just researching a new progressive for .45 ACP. I’m thinking another Dillion SDB but it’s slow because I physically take out the case to check powder with my eyes and put a bullet on it.

The Hornady LNL AP, the subject of this thread, will always likely remain my favorite due to it's versatility in placement of dies, for different processes, and it's adjustability, especially the half rotation per handle stroke, the Lee Pro 6000 has certain advantages over other progressives for folks who aren't look to turn out over 1k rounds at a sitting.

The Pro 6000 was the first progressive press where I've deprimed/sized in one step and dropped powder and expanded (since the introduction of the Square Start insert) in another as part of a single reloading run. With the extra stations I can also have the RCBS Powder Check die and the Lee Inline bullet feeder.

On the LNL, if you plan on expanding and dropping powder in one step, I'd highly recommend the RCBS Pistol Powder Expander , designed for their Pro 2000 as opposed to the Hornady PTX...just like I'd recommend the DAA over the Dillon

If I'm not using my LNL to do these, I'll use my APP to deprime and my converted ACP to prime

That's one of the reasons I couldn't imagine loading on a progressive with only 4 die stations

Obviously I don't think 10 stations is overkill either...I'm just lucky I was able to restrain myself from getting the Mark 7 Genesys

The RCBS PTX is a clear winner for use in the Hornady drop. Works almost as well as an M-die if you need to have a PTX because your using a bullet feeder or powder check. I just polished mine a bit before installing.

I am with you on using the RCBS expander's. ;)

I use regular expanders in station two on my LNL, then drop powder in station three with home made “drop tubes/powder funnels” (aka the old projector), with no expanding.

I have a pro 2000, and it took RCBS 2 years to listen to our gripes about getting powder drops through an expander. So I finally bought a Hornady case activated linkage with it's PTX and mounted it under my RCBS Unflows. Adjusting the height difference where the linkage clamps tighten was minor. Everything else about the p.m.'s are nearly identical.......so it fit and worked like Hornady and RCBS made the same p.m. but with different paint, and metal finish and hopper size. :) Only problem was......Hornady PTX's are basic....no "M" shelf.

So then RCBS finally listened, and gave us genuine PTX's and they added the "M" shelf as a bonus......and that new PTX doesn't care either, which brand linkage and powder die it goes in.....works identical. So there you are.....verification for the doubters.......the RBCS PTX works for either P.M., red or green.....as long as the red is Hornady red. ;)

Hornady on the left ... RCBS on the Right. RCBS PTX (powder-thru Expander) below: red arrow points to the "M" shelf.

No proof, but the evidence is all here......I think Hornady copied the Uniflow P.M, most likely with a licence......Then they came up with their great station advance linkage that made RCBS's old linkage (pre Pro 2000 days) look sick. So I think RCBS then Licenced the Hornady linkage for use in their "new" Pro-2000.....or most likely both licenses canceled each other out. :)

What's better than competition? Friendly competition with mutual back scratching.......
