Me and the wife went gun shopping for my birthday. I picked up the Ruger first and had to have it. While filling out forms and paperwork, I glanced back over and saw the Colt. Not sure how I missed that one. Well the wife said, "Why not. You only live once." Sold!!!!

So I got 2 new 1911 style guns ( I'm up to 5 now.) Both are something new to me. My first Colt, and my first 9mm 1911. Both are used but appear to be unfired. I will be changing that, this weekend. Screenshot_20211118-185821_Gallery.jpg Screenshot_20211118-185829_Gallery.jpg

That's a happy birthday!
Great wife you have there. Had a similar situation on one of our anniversaries. Stuck between two 1911s. My wife said just buy them both.

I recently added my first Colt to my 1911 family also. Mine is the Commander. I'm loving the learning experience that came with this one. My RIA has been trouble free, as has been my Taurus. This Colt, not so much.
Great wife you have there BTW.

WOW! Great finds. Cherish that little Lady of Yours!

Well done!

I love the SR 1911, Ruger did a good job putting mine together. I didn’t even have to touch the trigger, it came a smooth 4.0 pounds out of the box.

I don’t have a Colt 1911 myself, I’m glad you were able to fill that void with that good looking specimen. :)

After you exercise them, let us know how they shot for you .

Stay safe.

Thanks everyone. Yep, I'm a little spoiled lol. I managed to buy 5 guns this year. I told her Christmas is still to come. She said "Don't push it." LOL. I figured I better quit while I'm ahead.

Mid 50's temp tomorrow. Should be great shooting weather. I'll post back tomorrow with range results.

Great day today. Mid 50s for the weather. I shot a little over 200 rounds of 9mm and 200 rounds of 45acp. All rounds were my reloads. Both guns had zero malfunctions. The Colt worked with 5 different brands of magazines, so that's nice to know. It also ate fmj and cast lead bullets with no problems. ( I don't have any hollowpoints to try)

The Ruger only got RMR 115gr bullets feed thru it today. I also only have 1 mag for it. ( I ordered two 9 round mags off grabagun for alot less than Rugers site last night). How does it shoot? This is probably going to be my new favorite handgun. I like my 45s, but a 1911 in 9mm? Wow. What a shooter this gun is. Recoil is very minimal, so follow ups are quick. I should have bought a 9mm 1911 years ago lol.

Anyway, I believe for the price I paid, I did pretty good. I am very pleased with both.
