Pocket-carry 9mm?

When I first got my PF9, I tried carrying it in the front pocket of my jeans a couple of times. It was pretty tight, and would have been obvious as a gun to anyone here on THR (most people wouldn't look up from their phones long enough to be able to say later if you even had pants on.)

With a concealing pocket holster, it might have printed less, but would have been even tighter. I don't carry it there anymore; only did it a few times to test its practicality.

I second the Kahr, PM9, or any of its companions. Single stack, three inch barrel makes for a comfortable front pocket carry.

i'll stick with the glock 19 in the pocket. may be pushing the limits but im not a fan of semi auto pea shooters.

i use the thinnest pocket holster i can find. put glock 19 in it then pocket it. my other front pocket has a 30 round glock mag.

i do this with jeans but prefer cargo pants/shorts. i don't tuck shirt.

What ?? You pocket carry a G19, with a 30+ round mag sticking out of the other front pocket ?? I often pocket carry a fairly large pistol for it (S&W 6906), but this I'd have to see to believe. :scrutiny:

I pocket carry my Glock 26 also sometimes. Regular fit wranglers, it's lumpy but I wear a cover garment and don't care about printing.

I pocket carry my Rohrbaugh R9 even when wearing a business suit. My business slacks are only held up by a thin dress belt (not a gun belt), but my loaded R9 only weighs 17.8 ounces. It doesn't make my pants hang crooked or show noticeably in my pocket.

"my other front pocket has a 30 round glock mag."

never said it sticks out. i admit i have not done this with jeans yet, just cargo pants. it does not stick out.

"Pocket Carry" is always a rather loosely-defined topic. Work pants like Dickies and Carhartts tend to have more voluminous pockets than a 550 Levis.

I also think the definitions are different for different people. IMO, just because you can stuff a gun in your pocket doesn't make it a pocket pistol. Some people give thought as to whether or not the gun can realistically be deployed from the pocket, others do not.

I can stuff an SCCY in my front jeans pocket but the rear of the pistol is easily visible, and its not at all easy to get out. I have to sort of get a pincher grip with my thumb and index finger to pry it out a little ways and then get a grip to pull the pistol out of the pocket the rest of the way. In my book this disqualifies it as a pocket pistol, in other people's estimation these characteristics don't disqualify it as a pocket pistol.

You can carry lots of different guns in your pant pockets, not really an issue. Getting one out when you need one in a hurry is the issue. IMHO, 9mm pistols don't belong in a pants pocket.

I carried a Sig P938 in a pocket for 3 years and now carry a Glock 43 in the pocket, in both cases wearing Levi 505 jeans. I can get a firing grip on the gun in the pocket and draw it without snagging. The cool thing about the G43 is that it has the durability to allow it to be shot a lot, and I have shot 3 IDPA matches with it in the new BUG Division (using a belt holster). It is not the tiniest 9mm out there, but it may be the tiniest that you actually can train with on a regular basis.

I'd like to see more reviews of the 9mm LCR, especially owners' experience with bullets jumping crimp or holding together.

A glock 26 is smaller in height and width than a ruger lcr and the same length. Only a few ounces heavier, yet holds twice the ammo.

I pocket carry both a Kahr CM9 and a CW380. Both are carried in pocket holsters. Some of my jeans print too much with the 9. However, it's the 9 most of the time. Both are shot each month to insure/maintain my skills.

I pocket carry a Sig P938 either in the front pocket of cargo shorts or jeans using a Desantis Super Fly. Like WYO said "I can get a firing grip on the gun in the pocket and draw it without snagging."

I almost exclusively pocket-carry, mostly wearing loose cargo-pocket type shorts, or loose-fit jeans or khakis in the winter.
I also used to tote a G26, but the past few years I alternate between a Airweight .38 S&W, and (believe it or not) an old 3rd gen S&W 6906 (both in a pocket holster).
Going by earlier comments, I guess some folks are shaking their heads at the 6906, but it really ain't very cumbersome at all. In some clothes it might stick out a bit or be a tight squeeze, in which case I'll usually just go with the little revolver, but it usually isn't a problem, even sitting in a car.
But, I've lately got it in my head to try and hunt down another gen3 Smith, the single-stack model 3913 (fingers crossed). But, I may just have to settle for a Shield.

Often pocket carry my LC9s, relaxed fit jeans, DeSantis Nemesis holster. No difficulty drawing.

Very true, but what the revolver has going for it is its shape. A semi is very blocky/squarish; the human body has no hard straight lines. The revolver is all rounded/curvy, just like the human body. I can put a J frame in a pocket holster and it disappears from the outside while the semi screams out either gun or fat wallet.

I suggest that one tries a gun before buying it. Some of the cheaper ones have truly crappy triggers and not reliable. People go for price but $100 more buys something decent.

Because someone here says that they have one and it fired 50 rounds OK, doesn't say much.

Also, if you do get one - get some practice time as they are not the easiest to shoot.

Deep thanks to Countzero for the summary.

The Lc9 gets good reviews from my friend.
ME!
Once in while I will stick a Smith 649 in my pocket but a CZ 75 compact gets some pocket time, when I want more rounds than an Officers model 1911.
Dress up suits get Bersa 380 CC in stainless.

Wife will have a snub in most jeans or a NAA 22 MAG.

CM9 w/Recluse holster freezes trigger and masks contour of gun effectively. CM45 w/Recluse is only 1/10th thicker. CM9 is EDC 98/100
